What’s it like working at Alliance?   Well it’s different to one of the big corporates.   To begin with, you are not treated as a resource to be squeezed. It's a less formal work setting where people are encouraged to speak their mind freely and have a laugh. It’s more relaxed and friendly. In fact we often find people start working together at Alliance and then choose to hang out together outside of work.   But the best evidence we have that our team like working at Alliance is that they keep coming back. At ALG, we practice what we preach! We have policies in place to encourage our teams to hang out purely for enjoyment, and we regularly follow our HR’s recommendations to make these gatherings happen. It doesn’t require much effort to be honest, but it’s something we prioritize.   While we spend time together for fun, there are significant benefits for both our professionals and the company. Teams work more intensively and collaborate more effectively when they know and trust each other. There’s no better way to build trust and understanding among team members than through activities outside the context of projects and daily tasks.   Yes, we come together for fun, but the benefits extend far beyond mere enjoyment. Stronger bonds, better teamwork, and enhanced collaboration are just some of the valuable takeaways.   Behold the snapshots encapsulating our latest venture with São Paulo office team, where we delved into an exhilarating (and slightly spine-chilling) escape room followed by an entertaining dinner with the whole group. Arabella Advisors was honored to participate in the recent B Corp Champions Retreat—an invaluable opportunity to not only celebrate the work we and our peers have done over the past decade, but to identify lessons for the next phase in our evolution as a mission-driven organization. After attending the event, our colleagues Sophie Gardner, Andrew Plumley, and Emily Taub walked away with three major takeaways: 1) Regrounding ourselves in our values as a B Corp; 2) The importance of devoting resources to employee wellbeing, both professionally and personally, and 3) How to “walk the walk” of integrating equity and belonging. Even as organizational values shift and the world evolves, maintaining our commitment to these values will always be a priority for us.
