For over 50 years, the Clean Water Act has improved the health of many waters and prevented deterioration in many more. The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that 63 percent of the nation's wetlands and up to 4.9 million miles of streams will lose federal protections due to a Supreme Court's ruling. Let’s see if there is actually any teeth to this and will it be multi jurisdictional and hold land managers to account as well. There’s not much point if the line on the map means you can get away with it on the other side of the line. #UDIAQueensland #QueenslandEnvironment #Developers
The Queensland Government will introduce the Environmental Protection (Powers and Penalties) and Other Legislation Amendment Bill 2024 following an independent review last year. The proposed changes will give the environmental regulator additional tools to prevent environmental harm before it occurs. They'll ensure operators actively prevent community harm, penalize lawbreakers, and expedite clean up actions. The proposed Bill will redefine environmental 'nuisance' as 'serious or material environmental harm.' This definition equips authorities with more proactive enforcement tools and allows for more fitting penalties, especially for persistent issues like odour. #QueenslandEnvironment

Water rules are set by the Clean Water Act, Environmental Protection Agency, and your local city laws. It's against the law to dump things like chemicals or trash into storm drains. The water drains to lakes and rivers. If something pollutes the water, you could get a big fine. Fines can be up to $10,000. And usually they make the property owner pay, even if someone else dumped the bad stuff. Following the rules keeps our water clean.💧 #powerwashing #powerwashingservices #powerwashingpro #cleanwater #clean #cleanliving #pressurewashing

Hollywood screen legend Audrey Hepburn once said, “Water is life and clean water means health.” – and, apparently, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) agrees. In her latest article, Eastman & Smith’s #environmental attorney Lindsay Rich Steinmetz explores the EPA’s recent - and first ever! – standard that regulates the presence of ‘forever chemicals’ in American drinking water. Highlights include: ~the actual definition of forever chemicals (or, as they are officially known, PFAS); ~the new allowable limits of PFAs; ~federal funding available to help communities comply with the new standard; and more. What is the Clean Water Act, and how does a Supreme Court's decision impact clean water for all? “The Clean Water Act is a 50-year-old law to help control water pollution. Last year, the Supreme Court decided that the Clean Water Act didn't apply to many waters it had protected for decades. As a result, over half of the wetlands in the country don't have Clean Water Act protections now,” explains Julian Gonzalez, Senior Legislative Counsel for Earthjustice. Watch this video to learn how this ruling sharply undercut the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) authority to safeguard millions of acres of waterways from pollution and destruction. #Protectourwaters #CleanWaterforall #CleanWaterAct #Cleanwater

Today the United States Environmental Protection Agency finalized improvements to the Lead and Copper Rule. The rule will require drinking water systems across the country to replace lead pipes within 10 years, and require more rigorous testing of drinking water, amongst other things. This is a huge steps towards advancing environmental justice in America!!! #cleanwater #environmentaljustice #environmentallawyer
