As telemedicine continues to reshape how we access healthcare, the credentialing of providers in this field becomes increasingly critical. While the core elements of credentialing telehealth providers mirror those for on-site doctors, a key consideration is the licensure across state lines. Healthcare providers must be credentialed in the states where they offer services, making multistate practice a complex affair needing strategic credentialing planning. This is not just a matter of compliance but a strategic move to address broader issues like provider burnout and staffing shortages, ensuring that healthcare professionals can focus on patient care without procedural delays. In his article for Omnia Health, Charbel Rizkallah, past senior Healthcare Director at Honeywell Sensing & Safety Technologies and senior Director of Business at Med Surg Solutions (MSS), highlights how technological and innovative breakthroughs are transforming the business of healthcare, particularly in response to pandemic-related needs, which are still prevalent. According to Rizkallah, healthcare professionals need to reassess their systems and preparedness considering the expected increase in aging populations and chronic diseases, both of which are neither new nor unexpected trends. He more efficient care delivery, such as remote treatment and patient monitoring, with an emphasis on shifting some care to less acute settings such as homes and doctors' offices. All these require ongoing and advanced innovation as well as the utilization of more automation and artificial intelligence. The critical role of technology companies, therefore, in facilitating the transition to home-based care is more important than ever. One question that Rizkallah does not address though is how healthcare providers can ensure the security and privacy of patient data as they transition to more remote and technology-enabled care delivery models. This is a crucial point that needs addressing especially as AI takes over human control in some cases. We must be able to balance between efficiency (convenience) and effectiveness (safety and privacy). A big thank you to Angela Orsky, DNP, LNHA, RN and the team at Prisma Health for sharing their story of finding and partnering with our team at HealthSnap to deliver best in class #RemotePatientMonitoring and #ChronicCareManagement solutions to their patients: "The solution wasn't just about the technology; it was a well-defined program addressing logistics, patient engagement, and full electronic health record integration for optimized clinician workflow. The value of having a program where the vendor manages patient outreach, coordinates equipment delivery and ensures proper functioning addresses the coordination challenges for our health system. Patient engagement is equally vital for program success. The convenience for both patients and clinicians, where patients take their readings with home equipment and data immediately integrates into their health record, is a game changer."
