April is child abuse awareness month. Child abuse occurs at every socioeconomic level, across ethnic and cultural lines, within all religions, and at all levels of education. 1 in 7 children have experienced child abuse or neglect in the past year in the United States. This is likely an underestimate because many cases are unreported. If you see something, say something. A child's life depends on it. #EndChildAbuse #awareness

Day 7: #PSAAW There are so many myths that surround all types of abuse that need challenging. Post separation abuse, especially!! Society and services need to better understand that being abusive to the other parent is abuse and actually child abuse.. Parental conflict should never be allowed in any cases involving domestic abuse (government guidelines), yet we see it on reports all the time!! Words have power, especially when they are victim blaming!! But how often do we see this excused, minimised, or hear that they are still a *good parent* this enables them, their abuse, and the cycle to continue. If we really want to stop all domestic abuse, we must change this!!! Or else all we are doing is playing a part in it!! 1 in 5 children are subjected to domestic abuse, and they are also now recognised as victims in their own right.. (or supposed to be) #childabuse #parentalconflict #postseparationabuse #victimblaming #StopTheCycle #breakthecycle #breakfree #myth #fact #facts #domesticabuse #domesticviolence #noexcuses

I have a problem with how as a people we verbalize child abuse and make it appear normal. Often, when we are engaged rudely our first response that I can guarantee without flinching would be “Don’t talk to me like that, I am not your child!” A response we throw around because of #socialconditioning. This is a reaction we comfortably assert because we have heard it so much to an extent that we believe that only children deserve to be shouted at, and treated as we deem fit. After all, as adults, we have the invincible power to exert any form of leadership over children without question. We normalize child abuse by repeating these words. By consistently reinforcing that children must not in any way question anything even that which they are uncomfortable with, we make it normal for parents and society at large to emotionally abuse children. From today, if you hear someone throw around words that normalize the emotional abuse of children- be a child’s advocate and stop this social conditioning. Children are not second-class citizens; they deserve respect and even as you rectify them - do it in humane ways. #endchildabuse #stopusingthesewords #protectchildren #childrenstories

Child abuse has been a serious global problem that threatens the lives of some children in our society. Child abuse is an act of misuse of a child in any form. It is a situation where a child is maltreated physically, sexually, or emotionally, which is detrimental to the future growth and development of such a child. In many cases, children are victims of more than one type of abuse by parents and other family members. Child abuse constitutes all forms of physical or emotional ill-treatment, sexual abuse, neglect, and exploitation, resulting in actual or potential harm to the child's health, survival, development, or dignity in the context of a relationship of responsibility. Let us all protect child rights and stop child abuse. #PublicHealth #CommunityHealth #ChildAbuse
