🔹 Child Abuse Awareness Month: Breaking the Silence 🔹 For 35 years, I've witnessed the resilience and strength of survivors, but the scars of child abuse remain deep and lasting. This month, let's shine a light on the shadows that too often hide these painful experiences. Child Abuse Awareness Month isn't just about statistics; it's about stories. It's about the child who feels voiceless, the teenager who feels alone, and the adult who still carries the weight of their past. Let's pledge to listen without judgment, to speak up for those who cannot, and to create communities where every child feels safe and protected. Together, we can break the silence, heal the wounds, and build a future where every child can thrive. Child Protection Week is almost with us. 29 May - 6 June It a time to stand up against what is too often hidden by silence and shame. It is a time to speak out. "The more we share what is true in our own experience, the more others can find what is true for them." Jeff Warren, meditation teacher This quote beautifully encapsulates what it means to stand up and speak out about about child abuse. To speak out about the violation of one child's innocence can mean the salvation of the innocence of other children. Child abuse can be physical. Child abuse can be sexual. Child abuse can be psychological. Child abuse can be emotional. Child abuse can be neglect and abandonment. My books are not directly about child abuse. But they do delve into the the effects that several kinds of subtle, hidden misuse and direct abuse of a child can have on the adult he or she becomes. I know what it does. Read the second novel of my Transitions series, "All of You", and see for yourself. #JesFoordFoundation childlinesa.org.za sadag.org.za nicolaroddaauthor.com

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. At the HOPE National Resource Center, we see a world that honors and fosters positive experiences as being fundamental to everyone’s health and well-being. By practicing the Four Building Blocks of HOPE to promote equitable access to positive childhood experiences (PCEs), we as families, communities, and professionals can create nurturing environments where we can not only prevent child abuse but also allow children and youth to heal and build resilience from their past traumas. #childabuseprevention #positivechilhoodexperiences #PCEs

As April unfolds, so does an important opportunity to raise our collective voices for Child Abuse Awareness Month. It's a time to confront the uncomfortable truths that too many children face: the pain, the fear, and the scars inflicted upon them by those who should offer protection and love. It's a somber reminder that behind closed doors, in communities near and far, children endure unspeakable suffering. Child abuse shatters innocence, leaving lasting imprints on young hearts and minds. Its repercussions ripple through generations, perpetuating cycles of trauma and pain. But in the darkness, there is also hope. By shining a light on this issue, we ignite conversations, cultivate empathy, and foster support systems for survivors. Each of us has a role to play in safeguarding the well-being of children. It starts with recognizing the signs of abuse and neglect, speaking up when we suspect harm, and advocating for policies that prioritize child protection. It involves providing safe spaces where children feel seen, heard, and believed. And it demands a commitment to healing and justice for those who have endured abuse. This month, let's recommit ourselves to building a world where every child is cherished, where their safety is paramount, and where their voices are valued. Together, we can break the silence, break the cycle, and build a future where every child can thrive. #ChildAbuseAwarenessMonth

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a crucial time to raise awareness and advocate for the well-being of children. Each week, we highlight a different aspect of prevention and support with colored ribbons. This week, we focus on the significance of the blue ribbon, symbolizing the impact of child abuse and exploitation. Child abuse can have profound and long-lasting effects on a child's physical and mental health, often extending into adulthood. It's essential to educate ourselves, recognize the signs of abuse, and take action to protect vulnerable children. Together, we can create a safer, healthier future for all children. You can take your first steps to identifying these signs by using our parent toolkit below 👇 Parent Toolkit: https://lght.ly/0bcg35c Paving the Way: https://lght.ly/6lbl46h #prevent #BlueRibbon #PreventionIsPossible

Children are precious and vulnerable members of society. “Children are the world’s most valuable resource and its best hope for the future.” (John F. Kennedy). April is Child Abuse Prevention Month - check out this short piece from our Twin Falls colleagues: https://lnkd.in/gjnHrYyn There are several ways to get involved: 1. Display pinwheels, especially gardens of blue pinwheels. 2. Draft a letter to your elected officials emphasizing the need to invest in Idaho families and children. 3. Draw a pinwheel and write a positive message using sidewalk chalk. Children are deserving of love, care, and protection. We must ensure their safety and well-being, and create an environment where they can grow, learn, and thrive. “Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see.” (Neil Postman)
During Child Abuse Awareness Month, pinwheels serve as a hopeful reminder

Today is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. Did you know at least 1 in 10 older adults has experienced some form of abuse? Protective Services Director Keith Adams recently visited Cambridge Council on Aging to share resources and information about elder abuse. Elder abuse is an action, or failure to act, that creates harm or significant risk of harm for someone age 60 or over. It can manifest as physical, emotional or sexual abuse as well as neglect or exploitation. #WorldElderAbuseAwarenessDay is a time to raise awareness of elder abuse in our communities and to support systems, structures, and resources that work to prevent and end elder abuse. We all deserve to lead happy and healthy lives free from abuse as we age. SCES is committed to helping older adults escape abuse and understand their options through our Protective Services program.
