It's great to see there will be a review and possible update to MAGNET criteria! Nurse Wellness and Hospital Leadership are unique factors to explore! Hospital Leadership should include evidence -based onboarding, orientation, integration, and assimilation programs that value Nurses who have worked to learn leadership theories, skills, and demonstrated organizational outcomes! if it holds true that staff "leave leaders and not jobs," hopefully hospital organizations will develop robust programs that include at the very least, these four elements to help nurse leaders transition and acclimate successfully into leadership roles! The goal: Evidence -based Nurse Leadership preparedness will support Leadership Wellness AND Nurse Wellness overall!

24 Real World Nursing Tips for New Nurses in 2024: Real Talk! My personal tip list from over 20 years of experience in Emergency medicine, education & leadership! 1.    Take care of yourself 2.    Take your time off, do not be a hero! 3.    Do NOT work 4 consecutive (12) hour shifts in a row 4.    Follow the Policies & Procedures 5.    Don’t take shortcuts- Do the right thing! 6.    Talk to your patients & actually LISTEN to them 7.    Please TOUCH/Assess your patient! (do not falsify documentation, not all Respirations are 18 in triage, please STOP) 8.    TAKE YOUR BREAK (it’s a 24-hour operation) 9.    If you are a new ER nurse, try not to work on Mondays, the day after a holiday, or on St Patrick’s day! You’ll thank me later! 10. SCAN your MEDS & still double check all the rights, however many  medication rights they have now. 11. Advocate for yourself, your colleagues, and your patients! 12. Talk less, work more 13. Do not hang out in the break room unless you want to hear a lot of complaining! 14. Do not get involved in drama or politics. 15. Set boundaries with everyone, patients, colleagues, leadership. 16. Don’t take no mess from nobody! 17. If they try to bully you, set them straight and put them in their place. 18. Your Coworkers are NOT YOUR FRIENDS, they will throw you under the bus the first chance they get! real talk (you are not at work to make friends) 19. ASK for HELP (its ok! It does not make you less of a Nurse, in fact it makes you a better nurse) 20. If a physician does not want to come assess a patient your concerned about, you can call a rapid response, OR document in the chart. You may see them shortly after 😊 21. Go to conferences! 22. Join a Nursing organization! 23. Get multiple mentors! Be a Mentor! 24. Get a Nurse Career Coach, like me 😊 .
