Reaching the summit at Island! We had a great day last week, bringing together our HBD colleagues alongside our partners Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMPF) at Island - celebrating the building’s ‘topping out’. The event marked us reaching the highest point in the building’s construction, with partners, guests, and our main contractor and Bowmer and Kirkland Ltd gathering on Island’s 9th floor. Island on John Dalton Street in Manchester’s ‘prime’ core, is one of the city’s most sustainable office schemes; designed by Cartwright Pickard the 100,000 sq. ft net zero carbon building will be smart-enabled and targeting to be EPC A rated, achieve Nabers 5.5 stars, and be BREEAM Excellent. Island will also incorporate resilient technology infrastructure to support occupiers ESG objectives and its energy consumption will be 46% lower than the 2020 Real Estate Environmental Benchmark. Speaking at the event, our colleague Adam Brady, Executive Director at HBD, said: “Island is now becoming a reality. Every element of Island, from the structure to the internal operations, has been carefully thought through to provide occupiers with a highly intelligent building which will support their business and their ESG criteria for many years to come.” Island will complete this summer. It is being built on a speculative basis and is available as single or multiple floors of 10,000 sq. ft.
