Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced that its Green Hydrogen project has produced around 90 tonnes of green hydrogen since it was launched in May 2021. Most of this hydrogen was used to produce more than one-gigawatt hour (GWh) of green energy, reducing about 450 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

DEWA's unwavering commitment to #sustainability drives the UAE's #NetZero goals Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has established itself as a cornerstone in the UAE's ambitious journey towards achieving net zero emissions by 2050. Under the visionary guidance of the wise leadership, DEWA has launched numerous pioneering projects and initiatives that underscore its steadfast commitment to sustainability and innovation. Central to DEWA's sustainability strategy is the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar park in the world, based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model. With a planned production capacity of more than 5,000 MW by 2030 and a total investment of AED 50 billion, the solar park is pivotal in Dubai’s clean energy strategy. Roadmap for Emission-Free Public Transport: Dubai recently announced a roadmap to make its public transport emission-free by 2050. This initiative aligns with the city's Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and aims to eliminate 8 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions over the next three decades. The savings from this effort are estimated at AED 3 billion¹. 2. Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park: This ambitious solar park, based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model, is set to produce 5,000 MW of cost-effective clean electricity by 2030. It will significantly contribute to reducing carbon emissions and advancing Dubai's green energy goals¹². 3. Net Zero Carbon Emissions: Dubai is steadily moving toward net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
