In an era of conflict, chaos and confusion, those tourism destinations which can live in peace with themselves, their neighbours and the world at large will be the real winners. Thailand fits the bill, perhaps not totally but to a large extent. The ability to live in peace will be the REAL meaning of sustainability. It will be the key to the future of Thailand as a country and Travel & Tourism as an Industry of Peace. In 1987, Thailand led the world with Visit Thailand Year, celebrating the auspicious 60th birthday of His Majesty the late King Bhumibhol, the "Development King." That revolutionised global tourism, making it an economic and commercial driver par excellence. Today, global tourism needs another evolution to become a similar force for peace and harmony. Thailand can again lead this evolution -- "Soft Power" at its best. I have created and curated what I claim is the first tourism itinerary around this concept. 🌸 World Tourism Organization (UNWTO): International tourism to end 2023 close to 90% of pre-pandemic levels International tourism is on track to recover almost 90% of pre-pandemic levels by the end of this year. According to the latest data from the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), an estimated 975 million tourists travelled internationally between January and September 2023, an increase of 38% on the same months of 2022.    The newest UNWTO World Tourism Barometer also shows: World destinations welcomed 22% more international tourists in the third quarter of 2023 compared to the same period last year, reflecting a strong Northern Hemisphere summer season. International tourist arrivals hit 91% of pre-pandemic levels in the third quarter, reaching 92% in July, the best month so far since the start of pandemic. Overall, tourism recovered 87% of pre-pandemic levels in January-September 2023. That puts the sector on course to recover almost 90% by the end of the year.
