We will examine how higher education institutions address the needs of underserved populations and their role in career exploration, upskilling, apprenticeships, and credentialing. By analyzing faculty and staff contributions, we will identify initiatives that balance financial sustainability with social impact. Students will share perspectives on program design, marketing, content strategy, and partner engagement, fostering innovative solutions for both institutional and community advancement. LCCI and London Councils have published the London Business 1000 2023. This survey of over 1,000 London business leaders is an annual report considering their views on a range of important issues. These include skills, apprenticeships, recruitment, devolution, business crime, and the path to net zero. Providing data, evidence and insight to our Members about all things youth employment is exactly what we are here for. Youth Employment UK has expert knowledge across the whole youth employment landscape, what is driving youth unemployment, what the system issues are, what young people aged 11-30 including those who are NEET are telling us what works and does not work and of course what the impacts and plans are of policy and policy makers. Add in the expert insight we have on what makes #GoodYouthEmployment and the value of Membership speaks for itself. For 12 years we have been digging into the issues and solutions and given that youth unemployment is a growing issue, we absolutely need to see more of that expert insight put into practice by employers, providers and policy makers. Employers who understand the issues facing young people are much better equipped to ensure that their business is part of the solution and having a real people, social and future skills impact. Never ask things you can find out on the website. You want to know about criterion for departmental scholarships? The percentage of Black students who are offered research apprenticeships and opportunities? These are examples. Happy Summer Exploring.

Did you know that in Newark, NJ, 50% of those aged 16-19 and 33% of those aged 20-24 are jobless? A quarter of Newark's disconnected Black youth are incarcerated at any given time. These statistics are not just numbers; they represent real challenges affecting real lives. This issue extends beyond Newark, impacting over 5 million young people across the United States who lack skills and access to meaningful economic opportunities. Imagine the impact we could make by establishing 100 Workforce training centers in distressed communities nationwide. Our plan starts with a 5-acre development-ready site, zoned for a 40,000 square foot Workforce Semiconductor Training Center. But it's more than just bricks and mortar. It's ground zero for empowering distressed communities, powered by Talented, our AI-powered skills-based Apprenticeship platform. We will focus on 18-24 year olds and leverage the AI platform to orchestrate recruitment, matching, skills development, mentorship, and wrap-around services for "Learn-as-you-earn' apprenticeships.
