The #Bitcoin mining industry already has a 60% renewable energy mix and an adoption growth rate of 2% a year. This means that by 2030, we could have an energy mix of 72% renewables, beating most of the ESG-focused funds or industries out there - all while maintaining the safest network in the world and allowing individuals to transfer value without an intermediary. Without knowing it, #BTC investors are contributing to one of the greenest industries on Earth. 🌿

According to a recent Forbes article by Becca Bratcher, Texas is a leading player in combining renewable energy with Bitcoin mining. Since the early 2000s, after deregulating its energy market, Texas has seen over 40% of its electricity come from renewable sources like wind and solar. By 2017, many large-scale Bitcoin miners had moved to Texas to exploit its ample renewable energy. These operations help balance the electricity grid by using excess power during times of low demand, such as night hours which helps save energy and reduces the need for expensive plants. Clayton Greer, Vice President at Cholla Inc., points out that Bitcoin mining significantly aids the pricing stability of renewable energy sources when they are most productive. This support is crucial for the financial stability of these green resources and for encouraging the development of new renewable projects. Bitcoin mining also promotes investment in renewable infrastructure. In regions like West Texas, where renewable resources are abundant, Bitcoin mining operations have chosen to locate their facilities to maximise cost efficiency and support local economic growth. Clayton states, "We deliberately chose west Texas due to this energy abundance," highlighting that their decision was driven by competitive energy prices. As the partnership between renewable energy and Bitcoin mining strengthens, it showcases a promising model of how industries can collaborate to achieve economic efficiency and sustainability. #Bitcoinmining #sustainability
