What’s the best way to cover the territory of a sales rep on parental leave? In December, we hired a pregnant sales rep. And soon, she’ll be going on parental leave! This is how we’re currently thinking about coverage: 🏋️ Her manager will take over (most of) her pipeline - and I'll take a few deals myself too 💰 She will get full credit for all deals closed from her pipeline while she is out (no splitting commission, no double-paying since no rep will be put on this pipeline) 💻 We are hiring a part-time temp sales rep to set meetings, hold intro calls and build top of funnel for her while she is out (this is a former Parentaly sales rep who we love and continue to work with as a contractor) Important to note: our sales cycle is LONG (6-18 months). The goal with this plan is to ensure that the pregnant AE does not miss out on commission for all of her hard work to date, and also avoid her returning to work after four months out with zero new pipeline. I know this is a hot topic many of us have dealt with many times … would love to hear folks’ thoughts! 

We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven Independent Sales Representative (1099 Contract) to drive company sales for the east coast market. Job description: · Develop business through the process of prospecting, qualifying and calling on potential new and existing accounts of Packaging, and Industrial. After thorough search, qualification, and sales plan is completed for the prospects in the originally assigned accounts. · Quarterly performance review will be conducted and an overall 5% annual growth must be met. · Increase knowledge of the customer & prospect base in the assigned territory through sales meetings/calls to gain a better understanding of each customer's total requirements and how they might be addressed. · Develop and deepen business relationships with and increase value to customers & prospects in the assigned territory by learning about their businesses, continually learning about the Packaging, Industrial markets and becoming a trusted source of up-to-date and reliable market information. · Report to BU Manager any significant feedback regarding competitive pricing/activities/strategies, internal (Achem) obstacles, or any development that might interfere with the achievement of agreed upon sales goals as well as any strategic advantages that might be identified. · Initial travel expected to be minimum following initial accounts investigation & prequalification of prospects by phone. · Timely reporting & adherence to Travel & Expense guidelines. · Maintain current profiles for key customers - including names, titles, contact information, and impact on the sourcing & purchasing dynamics of key personnel as well as the sales strategies, key decision drivers (product or process factors), quote history & feedback, and competitor's statuses. Customer profiles are the property of Achem. It is required to submit a weekly activity report to BU manager/supervisor and general manager. · Maintain profiles for competitor's strategies & activities including names, titles, & strategies for the territory specially and nationally, as can be discerned.
