Happy Tuesday! Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message, brought to you by our parent company, MYR Group. Construction sites are dynamic work environments – as we work, and as others are working around us, we need to continually assess our situation and make adjustments as needed. When you’re assessing your work set-up, take your time. Look above, below, in front of, behind, and to the sides of your work area. Then, go beyond assessing just in relation to your body – look all around heavy equipment and other items in your work area to ensure there’s nothing potentially hazardous in the vicinity. Your situational awareness will not only keep you safe, but empower you to better perform your tasks as well. At Harlan Electric, Safety is Life. #HarlanElectric #MYRGroup #Safety #ElectricalConstruction #ConstructionSafety

According to the National Safety Council, falls are one of the leading causes of unintentional injuries in the US, accounting for approximately 8.9 million visits to the emergency department. While falls can happen anywhere, construction workers have a higher risk of falling than employees in most other industries. At MasTec Power Delivery companies, we work together to prevent slip, trip, and fall incidents by identifying and mitigating the common causes. Crews are trained on safely managing the physical factors involved in slips, trips, and falls – friction, momentum, and gravity – and conduct periodic inspections for hazards throughout the day. Our daily mission is to ensure that everyone goes home safely every evening. #SafetyIsACoreValue #MasTecPowerDeliveryCompanies #InfrastructureThatDelivers

Happy Tuesday! Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message, brought to you by our parent company, MYR Group. We often talk about taking your time and not acting quickly when you’re planning, assessing, or completing a task. However, there is a time to act quickly on a construction site- when as incident occurs. This doesn’t mean you should rush to take action. It’s important to act quickly to tend to an injury, and you need to be prepared to do so correctly. Otherwise, chaotic rushing can create more problems. Staying cool, calm, and collected while working diligently to address an issue is the recipe for a successful response to an incident. Happy Monday! Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message, brought to you by our parent company, MYR Group. When an incident occurs, it can be tempting to address only the immediate issue and get back to work. However, an assessment of what more should be done to prevent future incidents is important. Don’t fall prey to the assumption that only the affected individual and their actions are to blame – a different, safer set-up on a jobsite or around equipment can prevent many accidents. Use your questioning attitude, discuss the situation with colleagues to get additional perspectives, and make the changes needed to improve the safety of the work area.
