Happy Tuesday! Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message, brought to you by our parent company, MYR Group. The National Safety Council recognizes June as National Safety Month, an especially good time to purposefully refocus and reflect on the fact that safety is always everyone’s responsibility. All accidents are preventable – with the correct controls, procedures, and our complete focus, we can keep ourselves and our colleagues safe. Use the STAR method – Stop, Think, Act, Review – to ensure you’re taking the time to focus on safety and effectively take the steps needed to create a safe work area. Getting home safely at the end of the day depends on all of us staying focused, communicating effectively, and acting safely at all times. Happy Monday! Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message, brought to you by our parent company, MYR Group. When an incident occurs, it can be tempting to address only the immediate issue and get back to work. However, an assessment of what more should be done to prevent future incidents is important. Don’t fall prey to the assumption that only the affected individual and their actions are to blame – a different, safer set-up on a jobsite or around equipment can prevent many accidents. Use your questioning attitude, discuss the situation with colleagues to get additional perspectives, and make the changes needed to improve the safety of the work area. Happy Tuesday! Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message, brought to you by our parent company, MYR Group. We often talk about taking your time and not acting quickly when you’re planning, assessing, or completing a task. However, there is a time to act quickly on a construction site- when as incident occurs. This doesn’t mean you should rush to take action. It’s important to act quickly to tend to an injury, and you need to be prepared to do so correctly. Otherwise, chaotic rushing can create more problems. Staying cool, calm, and collected while working diligently to address an issue is the recipe for a successful response to an incident. Happy Wednesday! Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message, brought to you by our parent company, MYR Group. When it comes to safety, it’s important to make sure we are always learning from our mistakes. Taking time to reflect on what went right and evaluating what went wrong will help make our sites safer and our work better! One of the most common types of job-related injuries is Struck By incidents. To help prevent these situations from occurring, keep the following pointers in mind: • 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘇𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗴 • 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 • 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘃𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲𝘀 • 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 • 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝗲 These small additions and adjustments to your work can make all the difference for you and your team! Happy Monday! Here is this week’s :60 Seconds for Safety message, brought to you by our parent company, MYR Group. Construction sites are dynamic work environments – as we work, and as others are working around us, we need to continually assess our situation and make adjustments as needed. When you’re assessing your work set-up, take your time. Look above, below, in front of, behind, and to the sides of your work area. Then, go beyond assessing just in relation to your body – look all around heavy equipment and other items in your work area to ensure there’s nothing potentially hazardous in the vicinity. Your situational awareness will not only keep you safe, but empower you to better perform your tasks as well. #WattsUpWednesday with #TheSparkDaddy 🔌⚡Watts Up 1st Electric Community! ⚡🔌 As part of our ongoing commitment to safety and excellence, we want to highlight some crucial information about substation hazards this week. Understanding these risks is essential for ensuring the safety of our teams and the reliability of our operations. Substations play a vital role in our electrical infrastructure, but they also pose several potential hazards, including: Electrical Shocks and Burns: High voltage equipment can cause severe injuries. Always maintain a safe distance and use appropriate protective gear. Arc Flash: These explosive releases of energy can result in serious injuries. Proper training and safety protocols are critical to mitigating this risk. Chemical Hazards: Substations often contain batteries and transformers filled with hazardous chemicals. Ensure proper handling and storage to prevent exposure. Mechanical Risks: Heavy equipment and moving parts can cause injuries. Stay alert and follow safety procedures when working near machinery. Environmental Conditions: Weather and wildlife can introduce unexpected hazards. Always be prepared for changing conditions and keep an eye out for potential threats. Safety is a shared responsibility, and staying informed is the first step in protecting ourselves and our colleagues. Let’s continue to prioritize safety in every task we undertake. For more detailed information or to schedule a safety training session, please reach out to our safety coordinator. Stay safe out there, team! #1stElectric #SafetyFirst #SubstationSafety #SparkDaddy #ElectricalSafety #WorkSafe #SparkDaddyLife
