Interesting, and this is good to see. But in so many ways not surprising. And sadly too many leaders, counsellors, managers, coaches, and therapists fail to apply. Whether it be the principles of FLOW state (Csikszentmihalyi), or the use of PERMA (Seligman) , or the studies of happiness (Haidt), and the benefits of slowing down and detoxing towards our deep work (Newport) - or even, the constructive psychology with hints of Buddhism (Morita) - the fundamental elements always were, are and will be consistent. Focusing on the physical world, find interests with others, and challenges outside of our stressors, is the source of resilience and renewal. Turn off the screen, change your physical view point, do something physical and engage in something new, to challenge your intellect.
9 out of 10 Australians support the prescribing of social and creative practice by Doctors as part of treating a range of health issues, according to Creative Australia in their report Creating Wellbeing (2023). A groundbreaking study from Christina Davies has found that 2 hours of engaging with art (seeing it, experiencing it, making it) a week improves your overall health! There has never been more evidence that art and creativity is good for us. We've actually always known this, as humans, but in the Serious Business of medicine and managing health, it's been forgotten. We are grateful to work with GPs like Dr Mark Melek from The Village Practice in Wollongong who routinely prescribes patients ocean swimming, nature connection and referral to MakeShift programs as part of his prescribing. Every single person can support the inclusion of art and creativity engagement in their life. It might start with giving yourself permission to experience and enjoy music, photography, art, dance or books as a way to shift how you feel! Art is medicine! #creativefirstaid #creativeprescriptions #socialprescribing #artismedicine

🏅 **The Crucial Role of Qualified Medical Teams in Sporting Events** 🏅 In the high-stakes world of sports, every second counts—not just for athletes chasing victory, but for their safety and well-being. Ensuring that sporting events are covered by a qualified medical team is not just a best practice, it’s an absolute necessity. Here’s why: 1. **Immediate Response to Injuries** 🏥 - Sports injuries can range from minor sprains to severe fractures and concussions. A qualified medical team can provide immediate and appropriate care, minimizing the risk of complications and promoting faster recovery. 2. **Advanced Care and Equipment** 🚑 - Professional medical teams are equipped with advanced tools and technology to handle emergencies on the spot. Their expertise ensures that athletes receive top-tier care right when they need it. 3. **Comprehensive Health Monitoring** 🩺 - Beyond emergency care, medical teams continuously monitor athletes' health, spotting early signs of stress, fatigue, or underlying conditions that could lead to serious health issues if left unchecked. 4. **Customized Rehabilitation Programs** 💪 - In the unfortunate event of an injury, having a medical team on hand ensures that athletes can begin tailored rehabilitation programs immediately, improving outcomes and reducing downtime. 5. **Enhanced Confidence and Performance** 🌟 - Knowing that a qualified medical team is present can boost athletes' confidence, allowing them to focus entirely on their performance. This assurance translates to better competition and peak performance. 6. **Regulatory Compliance and Best Practices** 📋 - Many sports associations and governing bodies mandate the presence of medical teams at events. Complying with these regulations not only ensures legal adherence but also aligns with the highest standards of athlete care. 7. **Community and Spectator Safety** 👫 - Medical teams also provide support for the audience, ensuring that anyone in attendance can receive prompt medical attention if needed, thus enhancing the overall safety and experience of the event. The presence of a qualified medical team is indispensable for any sporting event. It's about safeguarding health, enhancing performance, and ensuring that sports remain a thrilling, yet safe, arena for all participants. Let's continue to prioritize athlete care and elevate the standards of sporting events worldwide! Please visit the website to learn more about how I can serve your organization! The Change is coming. . . The Physical & mental health and wellbeing impact that weight and body composition has on athletes and the population is enormous. Culturally as a society the weight conversation is one that needs to shift, and as we've been watching intently, it does seem like there is a little light on a very big horizon. It worked for the #Matildas, if fact they developed and performed better (yes we have data for that). With Policies from Football Australia not too far away this latest position from the AFL - Australian Football League is big step forward. Surely other Sports will follow. No different to it's use in Population health, weight & body composition are just physiological lag factors that share limited insight of the actual athlete, their potential, and health risk. Just like Catapult changed the sports science landscape in the early 2000's with its movement and physiology data tracking, Is what we are seeing an acceptance that maybe we went too far? Are we entering the next evolution in sports science and human health and performance, moving from a physiological perspective to a holistic human centred one? Its a big shift and will see a redefinition to the value and mode of practice of the related "soft Science" health disciplines, like Dietetics Nutrition & Psychology along the way. With this rise of the "soft sciences" being a key focus of the years of work within our Compeat Team (Compeat Performance Compeat Academy & #CompeatHealth). We certainly hope so. Today we are finally unveiling our Safer Sport Project. Help us get our new posters in every gym, school and sports club in the country. We have created a range of posters to ensure girls and women know what is and isn't okay when sports coaches, staff and third parties talk to them about female health, which you can download now using this link: https://lnkd.in/eeAhaTRv It's the first time this kind of material has been created for non-medical spaces in the UK. We want to get these posters up in changing rooms, classrooms, public toilets and sports clubs. Our new Safer Sport posters cover topics such as sports bras, pelvic health and breast injury. They explain how discussing these issues can be beneficial, and what to expect during conversations. Posters also cover what is and is not normal practice - and how to raise the alarm. Women's sport is on the up, and we want to educate and protect every woman and girl in sport by putting accurate information about what normal is into their hands. This is such a big step forward… 👏👏 Bravo AFL - Australian Football League With a finger on the pulse on this issue across the globe, I can happily say that while theres an emerging acceptance that Body Comp might not be best measure for athelte development and performance outcome, Australia is leaving the charge. I really hope this trend continues and we see the start of the next big evolution in athlete managemt and performance… with the Athlete as a person right in the centre! A trend we can transition straight to population health. #innovation #sportsscience #healthcare #humanhealth.

National Youth Sports Week: Prioritizing Safety for Young Athletes As a sports professional, you're on the front lines of keeping young athletes safe and healthy. At Elite 7 Sports Medicine, we partner with coaches, teams, and organizations like you to ensure that injury prevention and performance go hand in hand. Here are 4 essential ways to help maintain a safe sports environment: 1. Proper Conditioning & Warm-Ups: Ensure that young athletes are going through a proper warm-up and regular conditioning. Implement age-appropriate training routines to prevent overuse injuries and ensure proper skill development. 2. Vigilant Hydration Protocols: Establish hydration breaks and educate your athletes on the importance of staying hydrated, especially in hot weather. 3. Safety Gear Checks: Perform regular equipment inspections and ensure each athlete is fitted properly with helmets, braces, and other protective gear. Remember these athletes are growing quickly and adjustments need to be made on a regular basis. 4. Injury Reporting Protocols: Promote an open dialogue for athletes to report pain or injury without fear of losing playing time. Early detection is key! Your role is critical in fostering not only performance, but also the long-term health of your athletes. Together, let's continue to make youth sports safer! #NationalYouthSportsWeek #Elite7SportsMedicine #e7advantage #InjuryPrevention #YouthAthletes #YouthSports #VirtualAthleticTrainingRoom
