🚨 An updated National Infrastructure Strategy. A significant announcement by Government on page 62 of the autumn statement document… “The Autumn Statement addresses several of the NIC’s recommendations, published in October in its second National Infrastructure Assessment (NIA2). Our CEO, Andrew Carpenter says "Just after COVID CE Midlands hosted a webinar to promote the CLC’s Roadmap to Recovery. During the Q & A session that followed we asked 'What will prevent us from achieving it?'. One client commented that the construction industry supply chain knows the word collaboration but doesn’t know how to do it. That prompted us to take a diploma from ten years previous, update it and offer it up as a solution. We ran the level 5 diploma course successfully, in association with the University of Wales, in 2022/23 & 2023/24 and are about to embark on our 2024/25 course starting on Tuesday 1st October. This is an eight-month online course that will take place on the morning of the first of each month from October 2024 to May 2025.   If this is something that might benefit you and your supply chain. MENTEE PROGRESS - Craig Simpson has now finished his HMO… After a slight delay (welcome to Property Development) and spending the weekend flat packing the property is looking fantastic and ready to be signed off with the council license and building regs. Acoustic testing will also get booked in. On his ‘next stage project’ I’ve linked him up with an experienced Quantity Surveyor, who’s role it is to estimate costs, material quantities and project timelines. This will give Craig greater certainty on numbers and timescales, along with a better understanding of what responsibilities he’ll have when he starts the conversion of the detached property into 5 apartments. This is currently going through planning but doing the groundwork and speaking with the right professionals in the right order is paramount for a project to be successful. Craig has two more viewings booked in for next week to tackle another HMO project and a business meeting to discuss a 6 – 8 apartment conversion with a ground up development. Our goal this year is to get Craig full time in property. This can supplement his engineering income. Being immersed in Property Development full time will be a big achievement and a significant step forward for his first year being mentored. MDRC's Center for Effective CTE has a new blog post about how Delaware is embedding environmental literacy competencies across it's CTE pathways, to help prepare the future green labor market. "Through the development of new curricula and a set of seven benchmark EL competencies about sustainability and the environment that are being built into every middle and high school CTE pathway, the Delaware Department of Education demonstrates that now is the time to respond to changes that will impact the future labor market experiences of its students."
