“This is new ground for all of us and we know it's got to be done the right way,” said Robert Crain, executive vice president of Texas Pacific Water Resources, a company seeking to discharge treated water. “We’re not the only folks that are chasing this.” Leading up to the much-anticipated Produced Water Society meeting in Midland next week, here's an important article in the The Texas Tribune by Martha Pskowski and Dylan Baddour covering the opportunities and challenges for the beneficial reuse paradigm. It's important to point out that the treated water in question will undoubtedly be cleaner and less toxic than the surface water being discharged into. As such, those opposing this practice seem to have a larger issue with the origin of these waters, and not the quality of the terminal effluents, which is not a data-driven perspective.
