Echoing Saroj Kumar Jha keynote today at #WorldWaterCongress in Toronto - a key message emerging from the REACH programme is the importance of investing in maintenance as well as new #water infrastructure: "Repairing rural water infrastructure quickly through professionalized maintenance can reduce costs and increase social and economic returns, with benefits for low income households and women." (Tim Foster et al., 2022) >>>Read full policy brief at this link >>> https://lnkd.in/eg5ye6Ry
🚀 Excited to share insights from the keynote by Saroj Kumar Jha, Global Director, Water Global Practice, The World Bank, ‘Financing Water Solutions for Climate Resilience’ 🌍 at the #WorldWaterCongress & Exhibition in #Toronto. Saroj started his keynote by highlighting that, by the end of 2030, an alarming number of people may face even lesser access to water than when the #SDGs were first launched. To address this urgent issue, it's critical to build a compelling case for why governments must prioritise investment in #Water infrastructure. Some key highlights from the keynote: - Technology Adoption: Many developing countries still have limited access to advanced water technologies. Without integrating these innovations, we risk worsening the water crisis. - Governance: Effective water management and governance are essential to ensure sustainable solutions and equitable access. We need to act now to drive technological progress, make water a priority and enhance governance to secure a resilient future for water resources. 💧💡 #WaterSolutions #ClimateResilience #SDGs #Technology #Governance

It was great to be part of the World Water-Tech Innovation Summit in London, listen to some fantastic speakers and panel discussions, and watch how the pace and scope of innovation in the water sector is proceeding. In our panel of Expanding Reuse in the Face of Water Scarcity, we had an opportunity to debate how the impact of climate change and water scarcity is affecting both people and industries alike. Alternative sources of water, from both a centralised (in the instance of water utilities) and decentralised (in the instances of industry) perspective have cemented themselves in our society in our journey to reduce water stress, decrease dependency on scarce water resources and increase water sustainability. Water reuse forms part of sustainability planning and water stewardship for industry, which is being increasingly subjected to government regulation as well as voluntary and mandatory reporting. Volumetric Based Accounting (VBA) for water has now been accepted as part of financial reporting. We at #GWF take this to heart. Part of our contribution towards making a tangible difference is providing practical, valuable, and actionable service and decision support systems through our WaterLeader initiative. Our WATER RISK DETECTOR and WATER STEWARDSHIP tools directly support the private sector in achieving their sustainability goals and commitments, providing operational oversight, site accreditation, reporting and disclosure. Reach out to Gary Vincent, Brynn Williams, Chris Bold and Markus Stolz to find out how we can assist industry in improving water efficiency, promote water stewardship and assist with voluntary and mandatory reporting. #WorldWaterTech #GWF #waterstewardship #sustainabilityreporting #sustainablebusiness #WTRLDR #waterleader

Are we a bit obsessed with water? Of course, as a company that extracts CO2 from water, everyone who is working on Mission 2030 of Pure Carbon Blue talks about water all day. But that isn't necessarily a bad thing. In fact, we've learned that water is good for the body, good for business and good for the environment. And now we even go to the Amsterdam International Water Week. This is a two-day conference from the 7th to the 8th of November. Because this event brings together experts in or related to the water sector. Professionals who, just like us, see water as an enabler to accelerate resilient and sustainable development. This allows us to talk with like minded people about our Direct Water Capture system that we'd like to build before 2030. Because the more business leaders, researchers and policymakers discuss the solutions the world can implement today, the better. Sometimes it pays off being a little bit obsessed. What's your favorite obsession? Let us know in the comments. #water #AIWW#ClimateAction #DirectWaterCapture #CarbonNeutralEmissions #CarbonNegativeEmissions

Exciting News! The ‘Decarbonizing Water: Applying the Voluntary Carbon Market toward Global Water Security’ report is available now. The water sector contributes 10% of global emissions, more than the aviation and maritime sectors combined. Harnessing market mechanisms such as voluntary carbon markets can deliver a triple win: emissions reduction, improved water security, and improved access to safe water and sanitation for millions of people. The report explains how water projects can be brought into the global carbon credit economy. Maximizing the use of voluntary carbon markets for projects in water sub-sectors such as coastal blue carbon, wastewater treatment, and energy efficiency can generate more than 1.6 billion carbon credits per year. This could yield $160 billion toward improving global water security over the next decade. We are honored to have worked on this project with CU Boulder’s Mortenson Center in Global Engineering & Resilience and are looking forward to working alongside our partners WaterAid’s Resilient Water Accelerator, VCMI, and HSBC to share the findings with stakeholders globally. Access the report here: https://lnkd.in/eWt5_Tz2 Read more about the project here: https://lnkd.in/evxvJn-U #DecarbonizingWater #CarbonCredits #WaterSecurity #WorldWaterDay24
#REPORTLAUNCH! https://bit.ly/48RUvtJ NEW REPORT: We are excited to announce the launch of a new report, ‘Decarbonizing Water: Applying the Voluntary Carbon Market toward Global Water Security’ 💧 Did you know, that not only is the water sector deeply impacted by climate change, but it also contributes 10% of global emissions - more than the aviation and maritime sectors combined? 📈 New research from the @University of Colorado Boulder and @Castalia Advisors, commissioned by @WaterAid’s @Resilient Water Accelerator (RWA), the @Voluntary Carbon Market Integrity Initiative (VCMI), and @HSBC reveals that by supporting improved access to clean water for vulnerable communities, over 1.6 billion tonnes of CO2e could be saved annually within the water sector. That's equivalent to nearly half the EU’s annual emissions! 💡 The research also identifies a $160 billion opportunity for the voluntary #carbonmarket to reduce water sector emissions over the next decade. By focusing on areas like coastal blue carbon, wastewater treatment and energy efficiency, we can simultaneously improve water security and reduce emissions. 💧 Securing carbon credits from investment in water security offers a “triple win” of improved water security, climate resilience, and accelerating #netzero goals.
