According to Instacart, here's what's far outpacing brick and mortar growth: -Sports Drinks: 42% faster. -Dog Food: 29% faster. -Fruit Drinks: 27.5% faster. -Value Add Water: 21% faster. -Soft Drinks: 19% faster. -Complete Meals: 18% faster. We're making some big changes as we wrap up 2023! 📣 After December 22nd, 2023 we will no longer be accepting orders on SoomFoods.com and will be shutting down our online store. But don’t worry, Soom’s not going anywhere! While we will no longer be selling our products directly on our website, you can still easily find and purchase Soom products through various convenient channels, like Amazon, Thrive Market, Misfits Market, Whole Foods Market, & Publix Super Markets, just to name a few. We made this decision for a few reasons, but the two that stuck out were: - 24% of our warehouse's workload was spent packing out DTC orders, while DTC only accounted for around 5% of our revenue. - The resources spent to drive awareness, consideration, and purchase as well as the resources needed to pack the product and ship it out to the customer would be better spent where consumers are already shopping. By moving away from selling on SoomFoods.com, the Soom Crew is focused on growing retail distribution and driving sales across our other sales channels. We can't wait for what's in store for 2024!

It seems the traditional season of the "year-in-review" has just take off at Grocery Dive for #walmart as a start. #Walmart, like many supermarkets worldwide, have experienced a surge in grocery sales as people relied more on supermarkets instead of restaurants during the pandemic and the challenge for Walmart has been to capitalize on this momentum and retain the market share gains by keeping customers engaged and away from restaurants as normalcy returned. To make it happen, Walmart has introduced several new strategies to keep its customers shopping for groceries and dining at home, which include expanding its in-store dining options by partnering with fast-casual restaurants, providing convenient and appealing "Affordable Restaurant-Quality meals". Additionally, Walmart has revamped its grocery offerings, launching a new private brand to cater to both low- and high-income shoppers. On the #sustainability's side Walmart as invested in crop monitoring tech to ensure fresher produce in store and reduce food waste, Is all of these propositions will continue to made Walmart a Grocery Destination with its "Affordable Restaurant-Quality Meals" offer to continue to compete with restaurants ? Furthermore, to solidify its grocery dominance, Walmart opened new #Neighborhood #Market format with enhanced grocery offerings tailored to customer demand for high-quality and fresh more often locally harvest food. Opening more convenience stores format supports the company’s e-commerce growth for its #clickandcollect" offer thus creating an ecosystem where in-store and online experiences converge, which is part of Walmart’s five-year growth plan including building or converting 150 new locations and remodeling 650 stores by 2029.

Will be a fascinating earnings season. One to keep an eye on: which customers are driving growth. Walmart’s focus on more affluent customers via their ecom efforts just got another boost with the launch of bettergoods vs. Amazon’s focus on less affluent customers via half off grocery delivery for anyone with a EBT card (and no prime membership requirement). I expect these two companies to be the share leaders and for their shadow boxing only to continue—can’t wait for Vizio to close. Walmart’s ability to add affluent customers will not just sell cardamom rose raspberry jam, but help their ads business as brands will pay a premium to reach affluent customers; so yes bettergoods will drive GMV, but if it also takes affluent customers from Trader Joe’s or elsewhere, Walmart can then monitize again via ads. https://lnkd.in/eYM-rFE2

🚀 Morrisons to launch on-demand #deliveryservice from +600 stores 🚲 Eloise Hill reported last week in Grocery Gazette that a collaboration with Just Eat Takeaway.com will see Morrisons launch the service from 60 stores starting in December '23. Joseph Sutton shared plans to roll out the service to over 600 stores during 2024; using the Daily format as the sourcing location. This tie-up gives Morrisons a chance to trial demand from consumers on a scale equivalent to Tesco Whoosh without all of the investment up front.. albeit at a cost in the commission to the #aggregator. 📉 Grocery prices are finally getting better, but deals might have peaked! NIQ reports that promotional sales are slowing down after a brief surge. During the pandemic, prices rose and promotions declined, but brands and retailers ramped up deals as supplies normalized. This year, 28.4% of grocery dollars were spent on deals, but the growth rate is slowing. 🤔 What's next? Brands are cautious, offering targeted promotions to avoid past mistakes. In response to inflation-wary consumers, retailers are increasingly focusing on private labels to offer more value. Gopuff, for instance, has seen a 70% year-over-year increase in private label purchases, with these products now part of 20% of orders. Other retailers are also enhancing their private label offerings. Target has lowered prices across 5,000 items, including those in its Good & Gather and Everspring brands. Kroger has expanded its Abound pet line and plans to introduce 800 new products in 2024. CVS has rolled out its Well Market brand, while Misfits Market and Walmart have also launched new private label lines.
