Grubhub is committed to supporting independent restaurants with the necessary resources to sustain and grow their businesses. Our latest effort to support restaurants is an initiative with The Greg Hill Foundation’s Restaurant Strong Fund, where we will provide $500,000 in grant opportunities to help NYC-based restaurants lower their carbon emissions with updated equipment. Made possible by the Grubhub Community Fund, these grants are designed to help lighten the financial load for restaurants as they make necessary operational updates, supporting both recent and upcoming upgrades to kitchen equipment, with a particular focus on coal- and wood-burning ovens. Applications for qualifying NYC restaurants are open until May 31, 2024 – apply today: https://lnkd.in/gPdTsbjb

Here’s another example of a genuinely “Good Thing” in the midst of the bad news of increasing demand for foodbank services (25% increase for us across our 5 FAITHWORKS’ foodbanks over the previous year). Warehouses and storage facilities don’t normally come under the banner of “beautiful” but Poole Foodbank’s new facility is just that: spacious, easy to move around, warm (!) and now with the biggest toilet cubicle you have ever seen. And how did this happen? Well, one organisation gave the space, so many others gave expert advice, builders went over and above, others gave us grants, one business leader climbed a mountain to raise funds (!), removal companies were super speedy, supermarket community champs kept food flowing, and so many volunteers went the extra mile (including one logistics expert who stayed on to paint the walls!). It’s a bit like between us we built all the components into the biggest key in the world – and this key has opened up the possibility of not only serving all the satellites and some of our Access to Food Partnership partners in Poole, but as importantly, giving space for people to come and talk through some really tough situations. When people come to a foodbank now, often in the middle of despair, they find a cuppa and a chat and experts on site or speed-dial (while food is being sorted): many times they leave not only with food (and a recipe bag to try), but with their heads up, shoulders back, the knowledge they are #notalone, and a little more #hope in their lives. Thank you, Gill, Alan and Jane who led the work. Thank you #generous, #wisdomfilled people who made it possible. Now to turn this into even more good news in individual lives. #goodnews #businessasaforceforgood #thankful #communitymatters The Dolphin Poole, Talbot Village Trust, BCP Council, Cranfield Trust , Mazars , Legal & General , Community Action Network , Dorset Chamber

Advocate. Amplifier. Entrepreneur. Founder of New Orleans’ first shared kitchen incubator focused on access to affordable commercial kitchen space, technical assistance and revenue generating opportunities.
As the owner of a food business, I founded Friends of Codey’s out of necessity. I saw a gap and chose to fill it. There were shared kitchens… but food entrepreneurs had to “figure it out” on their own- all of “it”! Nothing existed like us and nothing exists like us right now. Three years in, we’ve made major strides by assisting Greater New Orleans’ food entrepreneurs with legal formalization, education, revenue generating pathways, kitchen access, changes in local permits, and much more. 💚Entrepreneurs collected over $100,000 in catering opportunities last year. 💚We provide pathways to New Orleans’ largest festivals through shared vending booths. 💚All of our courses to date are free. 💚We offer kitchen rental. 💚We offer collaborative catering opportunities and brunch markets. 💚 We serve starts ups to storefronts. 💚We offer co-working space. 💚 We support operations of food related events and spaces. 💚We partner with mission-aligned nonprofits. 💚We work to expand New Orleans food vending permits. 💚We operate one of the largest shared kitchens in New Orleans (includes a classroom, dry storage and three areas in the kitchen and walk-in cooler). This is just some of what we do. When I say we, I mean “I” as I am a team of 1. The term “we” is to speak into existence the opportunity to gain enough financial support to pay myself and hire staff this year. As they say, a closed mouth won’t get fed. This is my moment of transparency. Friends of Codey’s is currently self-funded enough to keep the lights on and needs support to keep going. Please consider standing in the gap for us or sharing with someone who can. 💚We can accept reoccurring/one-time donations at https://lnkd.in/gqJ6v7gH 💚 We’re also participating in Give NOLA Day. https://lnkd.in/grfWWGhi 💚 We are seeking volunteers and in-kind services (legal, grantwriting, and electrical services). Among the new laws for California is one designed to reduce waste in our landfills, all while feeding more people in need. Senate Bill 1383 first went into effect in 2022 requiring certain businesses, such as grocery stores, to donate unused food to food recovery organizations like Feeding San Diego. As of January 1, 2024, the law expanded to include hotels, restaurants with more than 5,000 square feet or more than 250 seats, health facilities with onsite food facilities and more than 100 beds, state agency cafeterias, local education agencies and large venues and events. Let's clear this up: taking food from a community fridge is never "nicking from the poor" Community fridges are spaces that bring people together to share food, meet up, learn new skills and prevent fresh food from going to waste. They've been in the news quite a bit this week. This piece in The Sun does a great job of explaining exactly what and who Hubbub's Community Fridge Network is for. As Catherine Lofthouse says in the article, "If I can spend less, save food from going in the bin and help support free sessions for people who need them, what's not to love about that?” The basics: • Community fridges are 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲, no questions asked • The 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲, and comes from supermarkets and elsewhere • They often do much 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱: running cooking skills sessions, for example Thanks to our partnership with 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼-𝗼𝗽 we've been able to support the network's growth over the last few years: • There are 650+ around the UK. • Last year they welcomed over 600,000 people... • And shared nearly 𝟭𝟴 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀' worth of food. 📰☀️ Read The Sun's take: https://lnkd.in/gfgTaGxw 🥗 Check out the Community Fridge Network: https://lnkd.in/e7wV8FRE ++ P.S. I'm CEO of environmental charity Hubbub. We bring business, government and civil society together to create campaigns that make it easier and more possible for all of us to make choices that are good for the environment. Vote “No” on Question 5 in Massachusetts this November. Tip Minimum increase from $15 to $20 will increase the Menu Costs or “Service” fees at your favorite local restaurants, especially smaller restaurant groups. Most Hospitality Workers would go elsewhere if they were looking for a stable bi-weekly paycheck. By increasing the tip minimum to $20, tips will decrease and the industry will lose our most talented individuals. Most Servers land somewhere between $25-$40 with the most competent exceeding that range; the system benefits owner/operators and employees alike. Increasing Tip Minimums hurt the Consumer via increased prices and the Worker by consequently impacting the Earning Potential. Making uninformed decisions hurts people, ask a Server if they would rather make $20 or $45 an hour; you would be outraged if your livelihood was at risk. The California Government can do whatever it wants, leave Massachusetts restaurants alone.

RAISING UP BRISTOL: One year in to Brewed to Give and we want to let you know about the impact of your last BBF pint. BBF has always looked for ways to give back to the city that made us. We’ve given beer and sponsorship, here and there, but often to customers and friends we already had a connection with. In 2020, we launched Clear Head to raise money for Talk Club, and that gave us a taste of beer for good. But we knew that our city needed more, and we wanted to rise to the challenge. We wanted to lead the charge! That’s why we launched Brewed to Give – to raise up Bristol communities with a 2% tax on total brewery sales. Over the past 12 months, we have donated more than £80k of stock, space and direct support to180 charities and good causes across our city. But the genius of the initiative, is that where appropriate, we invest our asset - Beer - then support communities to sell it, generating 3-5 times the cost price. In this way, our £80k investment has converted into £200k of unrestricted funds, kept by the community, for the community. No strings, no fuss, no funding reports! Every beer you buy gives back to Bristol and with thanks to you, the Brewed to Give budget has increased to £100k for 2024-25. This means we can support more epic projects, more frequently, across more parts of the city. But we're not going to stop there as we’re already planning on how we can make Brewed to Give bigger and better. From rolling out new pathways into brewing for local young people, to inspiring other businesses to join us, or make their own commitment to the city. “We think this idea is the essence of what the word 'community' stands for. You support the people who made you, you lead by example, you let people have a good time and help them run great events for good causes. It is a cycle of goodness! We hope other local businesses follow your lead!” Ruslan, volunteer for Friends of Henleaze Infant School Whether you access our support, join us as a business partner, or buy a BBF beer, just know that together, we’ve got Bristol’s back! Every beer you buy gives back to Bristol. To learn more or to apply for support, head to https://lnkd.in/eJYyNdWa #DRINKWITHPURPOSE

Enabling leaders and sales professionals to leverage digital influence to create more and better opportunities
Picture your favorite coffee shop. You walk in and order at the counter. You make conversation with the barista you know by name. It’s a typical dialog exchange until it comes time to pay. 🎬Scene change to *my* favorite coffee shop. A Place at the Table coffee shop in Raleigh, NC is a “pay what you can cafe”. Hmmm. That’s different. Well, when you pay for your coffee and meal, you can add a tip of any amount that directly “pays it forward” for someone who cannot afford a meal. Coffee with a purpose.☕️ "A Place at the Table" is a non-profit café with a clear mission: 🍴To provide community and good food to all, regardless of means. This coffee shop is helping fight food insecurity while building community through their unique business model. Patrons can pay a suggested price, pay a little extra to pay it forward, or work for a meal. The cafe operates with a small staff and relies on volunteers from local businesses, church groups and colleges, to serve food, clear tables and greet guests. Inspired yet? 👉Next time you’re in Raleigh, swing by 300 W Hargett St and meet some Raleigh neighbors. Maggie Kane runs the cafe with a strong sense of purpose and guiding values. The cafe is simply an extension of Maggie -welcoming, filled with energy, and surrounded by friends. The impact is that the cafe is reinventing how they feed our downtown community. 4moWhen will you be focusing on the drivers and the driver app? You know the people who deliver orders for you and whom without you have no business model? I keep seeing posts about improvements for vendors and back office issues. The driver app hasn't changed in a year.
