We are thrilled to announce that Haderslev Municipality has awarded a quarter of a million Danish kroner to youth-led climate projects! This initiative aims to empower young people to take action on sustainability and climate change. The funds, totaling 275,275 DKK, have been allocated to various innovative projects, including: - Events promoting sustainability awareness - Expansion of a clothing swap initiative - Reusable cups for school events - A community planting project These projects are not only creative, but also driven by the passion and dedication of our youth. Kudos to all the young changemakers involved and not at least to Bloomberg Philanthropies and  Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation at Johns Hopkins University for facilitating this change via the #YouthClimateActionFund 🌱💚 Micro-actions and Habit Changes: How We Can All Make a Difference It’s inspiring to see how small actions can lead to significant changes. My Friday #climateimpacts celebrate the power of local collaboration with a bit of fun personal news... I'm excited to be working with Sustainable Finger Lakes, a 20-year strong Ithaca, New York-based non-profit championing the region's transition to a resilient local economy, healthy environment, and strong social fabric. It's been a busy few days ramping up and I'm incredibly impressed by what the group has accomplished and what it envisions for the future. It's great to see "think global, act local" in action. A few highlights 🌿 The Finger Lakes Climate Fund (link below) allows businesses and individuals to directly support local #renewableenergy initiatives while offsetting their building or travel CO2e. Because the funds stay local, all projects are vetted by local experts. No greenwashing risk here. 🌿 It's no surprise the Neighborhood Mini-Grant program, something we look to expand regionally, is so popular. These small grants help good ideas come to life, including my favorite, an area high school's new Sustainability Club testing reusable sporks in the school cafeteria. (I'm a big spork fan) 🌿 The Clean Energy Pilot is a two-year project to convert 100 LMI (low to moderate income) houses from natural gas heating to heat pumps. In terms of storytelling, this popular pilot needs no word-smithing: cleaner indoor air, better temperature regulation, lower utility bills. As a result, landlords, installers and contractors gain new in-demand skills and competitive advantage. More to come, but one thing hit home immediately related to the many #sustainabilitymarketing conversations I've had: if you keep it simple, jargon-free and local in impact, people will listen and act. We can tackle climate change if we bring it right to people's backyards. Now the fact that the backyard in my case is NYS's premiere wine region? Small bonus 😉 💚 Excited to make an impact, continue learning and meet fellow #sustainabilityleaders in my soon-to-be new home town. #sustainability #climatechange #renewableenergy
