“Your Swedish is weird. We don’t want to play with you...” During past two weeks I’ve heard several children sharing similar experience of exclusion in a primary school in Sweden. It saddens me deeply. We promote diversity & inclusion at work. We set up strategies and policies. We organise educational activities to raise awareness about DEI. Yet, it seems we forgot that DEI starts not at work, but at home! 👉🏼 What we say. 👉🏼 What our kids hear.  👉🏼 How we treat ourselves and others.  👉🏼 What topics we discuss at a dinner table. 👉🏼 How we speak of our colleagues and neighbours. 👉🏼 How much diversity we have in our own social circles. While we focus on workplace initiatives, we need to remember that inclusivity begins with the values we instill at home. Raising children who are open-minded, inclusive, and appreciative of different cultures - is one of the most powerful contributions we can make to ensure a healthy and thriving future. ❓ “How diverse is your social circle?” - this simple question can be a meaningful starting point to assess our commitment to diversity and inclusion. What we model for our children at home goes far beyond our personal lives. 💭 How are you practicing DEI at home? Please share! In 2023, OCHIN focused on key areas to promote the long-term sustainability of community health organizations, including rebuilding the health care workforce. In total, OCHIN+ workforce development programs supported 211 learners across 7 states in acquiring skills and experience to advance rewarding careers. Together Outdoors (TO) announced the opening of the application period of its Inclusive Micro-Grant Program, a new initiative aimed at bolstering capacity for small and rural grassroots organizations that are key to creating a more inclusive and welcoming outdoor recreation environment. The 2024 Inclusive Micro-Grant Program is poised to continue the great support started in 2022 and will focus on two key areas:   1.)  Research + Resources: Financial backing for projects developing research and resources that facilitate inclusion outdoors. This includes the creation of educational toolkits, multimedia content, and translation services to ensure accessibility for all. 2.)  Activating Change Outdoors: Support for outdoor recreation programming, events, and leadership development initiatives specifically designed to empower communities of color, LGBTQIA+, individuals in underserved regions, people with disabilities, and other intersecting minority groups.   Together Outdoors invites grassroots organizations that embody these focus areas and share our vision for a diverse outdoor community to apply for the Inclusive Micro-Grant Program. Organizations are encouraged to apply to the inaugural grant round by March 11, 2024. World Children’s Day is UNICEF’s annual day of action for children, by children, marking the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Children’s rights are human rights. But in too many places today, children’s rights are under attack. On World Children’s Day we’re making space for children and young people to raise their voices on the issues that matter to them.
