From CrowdStrike’s 2024 Global Threat Report: -75% of attacks to gain access were malware-free -20% increase in access broker ads on the dark web, with the vast majority targeting U.S.-based entities -"Cloud conscious" attacks increased by 110% YoY Their #1 recommendation? Make identity protection a must-have. “It is essential to implement phishing-resistant multifactor authentication…and implement technology that can detect and correlate threats across identity, endpoint and cloud environments.” If only there was somewhere to turn for help... 😎 Push Security maps, hardens and minimizes your identity attack surface, providing unique telemetry and functionality in the browser to detect and respond to identity-based attacks. It's fascinating to read an article like this, while seeing George's organization (as well as others) start to push the very same message of a consolidated platform security approach Nikesh Arora & Palo Alto Networks have been pushing for years, or certainly as long as I've been with the company. And the very same issues he claims these other organizations are creating with the platform push (disparate products for log ingestion, too many SKUs, "piecemeal" solutions) are the exact reasons Cortex by Palo Alto Networks is winning our customers' Security Operations teams over from their existing legacy EDR/"XDR" vendors. I see it every single day in the field. Take it from someone that came through one of those "many acquisitions" in 2020, Palo has seamlessly integrated both our product and people into the wholistic vision of our platform. As Nikesh himself said, "see you next Q".

Time to switch back to #onpremise, OWN your data and KNOW your security risks instead of hoping others did their #duediligence With the recent news that #microsoft is experiencing repeated compromises, on premise solutions like #Racktop #Brikstor and #Vectra look more important than ever. State-backed Russian hackers broke into Microsoft’s corporate email system and accessed the accounts of members of the company’s leadership team https://lnkd.in/gm4asW9p And Microsoft breach led to theft of 60,000 US State Dept emails https://lnkd.in/gk6erP8F We see the Chinese and the Russians have both compromised Microsoft services, with some #cybersecurity experts claiming that Microsoft may not be able to undo the Chinese Compromise in October. The recent Microsoft breach is an important reminder that no organisation — big, small, or industry giant — is fully protected from cyberattacks. The attackers gained access through a seemingly unimportant, non-production account within Microsoft's Azure cloud platform, however, the access point enabled hackers to compromise email accounts of several senior Microsoft executives, including their CEO. This failure to standardise best practices across all systems and secure low-priority accounts led to severe implications and serves as an invaluable reminder to Microsoft and organisations of all sizes of the need for standardising cyber practices and layering defences across your network.
