Two years ago (almost to the day) I accepted an offer to join Turner & Townsend! 🎉
What many do not know, is that this offer came to me at one of the lowest points of my career thus far. Just months before, I found myself in an organization whose values were severely different from my own. I worked with leaders who did not respect my voice or opinions and had no support from HR or other team members. I found myself battling with my internal moral compass on a daily basis, wondering if I was just not good enough for or cut out for a career in Project Management anymore. I drove home in tears almost everyday as I contemplated my life choices and every possible option I had to get out of this. I spent hours on LinkedIn looking for alternative positions while being absolutely terrified that I would somehow find myself in a similar or worse situation than the one I was in.
This role at T&T proved to be the light at the end of that tunnel. It wasn't easy for my husband and I to pack up our lives in Southern California and move to Seattle. It wasn't easy to start over in a new company, in a new city, without an established network of friends, family and colleagues. But we were young, moving from apartment to apartment, not happy in our careers, and wanted a change - so we made the jump. A jump that has paid off in many more ways than we ever imagined.
Over the last 2 years, I have worked on extremely exciting projects and collaborated with some of the most intelligent, supportive, and kind individuals I have ever known. I have been challenged more than I have been challenged before, and re-proven to myself that I am capable. I traveled across the county, attended local events, made friends, and cherished every moment of this chapter that is far from over.
A big THANK YOU to all who have believed in me and supported me along this journey and for making this all so special.
