🚨 NEW BLOG POST. I’m not a father and my relationship with my dad was fraught. He died when we were both too young, and I’ve been working on me ever since. In this post I write about one of my favorite sacred places, the Wind Point Lighthouse, the pull of Lake Michigan, family, friends and Father’s Day. I think some of you guys will chew the fat on exposure and branding as being opposed to some of the ethos and attitudes of cyber security but don't be hating on Ricki's idea I reckon. Most of it is outdated and shall I say it, old hat. I see the merit, I'd want to see what angle he's taking, because some of you, your brand is no brand. And I see the perks of that too. Truth is, whether you like it or not you're going to be branded in this industry. Don't think that being a super sneaky secret squirrel ghost in the shell with your sunglasses is going to cut it. You're always signalling something. So be intentional. If you're annon, great, if you're on the market then show it. Even if you are adverse to being identifiable use your brain and think of how the same way people piece together an impression or idea of who they think you are can work to your advantage operationally, cough, I meant for your career. Maybe you'd need to be discrete about it, maybe you need to be loud and retweeting your TikTok resume. Don't forget even the bad guys love their brand people. For me though... Branding is the reason why I had a run in with anonymous. Branding is the reason why people felt they could offer me less equity. Branding is the reason why I competed with the likes of CyberCX and Harvey Norman in Australia. Branding is the reason why my solutions were considered for every business across the entire NT. Branding is the reason why most can't afford me and how people know I am on a completely different level in the cyber game But that's my brand. What's yours? Most of your are just going to use other peoples brands and to make you looks good and fulfill your future employers requirements on paper. Most of you are actually being used by these folks to propel their brand. Remember though, branding is not forever, you can change your brand if you want. You can be who you want to be and show people what you're capable of. For example, now, I just play video games. And yeah, I'm most likely better than you at this too.

I picked up my signed copy of Donna Ashworth’s newest book: “Wild Hope” when I was back in the UK. Having followed Donna for a couple of years, it’s a book I’ve been super excited to read. Needless to say, despite the fatigue of packing and unpacking, I devoured half of the book last night. . As expected, it is heartfelt, moving, honest and uplifting. . I wanted to share the first poem in the book with you and encourage you all to buy the book if a dose of hope & courage is what you need. . “HOPE FLOATS by Donna Ashworth . Hope floats, as a fated ship is dragged to its demise on the seabed. Hope rises when everything else is sinking. Hope flies when there are no wings and hope drives without an engine. Hope does not need light or oxygen to survive. It grows best in the dark, truth be told. Hope is the 1 per cent that rallies against statistics. The one they cannot explain. Hope is against the odds, in spite of fact and solely made of will. Hope is the space between faith and spirit. Hope is the belief that things can get better, that the sun will warm again, that the end need not be that. Hope lives in the mud, in the mire, in the barren wasteland of emptiness. It is like magic, this hope. And the best thing of all? It’s free; you just have to call it near. Hope floats, my friends, cling on to it when you are just too tired to swim.” . Beautiful, hey! I hope you all have a good week ahead 💖 . #hopefloats #donnaashworth #donnaashworthpoems #hope #findinghope #wildhope #bookrecommendation

5 Whys had been a powerful tool for #rootcauseanalysis and #problemsolving. But why asking questions 5 times? Jefferson Memorial in the US can explain that better! As the park ranger noticed the precious stones are decaying, they started to identify the reason by asking- 1️⃣Why the stones are decaying fast❓ ✅Because of the heavy wash every other week with water-jet. 2️⃣Why the memorial needs frequent wash❓ ✅ Because of the birds litter. They ranger thought they identified the problem and fixed nets around the memorial. Barely they understood, this was only a symptom, not the root cause and it failed because birds found ways to bypass around it. So, the questions continued to identify the main root cause by asking- 3️⃣Why there are so many birds❓ ✅Because they feed on spider. 4️⃣Why there are spiders❓ ✅Because the feed on insects. 5️⃣Why there are insects❓ ✅Because they are attracted by the lights of the memorial. Bingo! As they identified the new root cause, they just reduced the light timing which reduced the insects by 90%! 💡Lesson learnt is to ask questions exhaustively to identify the main root cause of the problem, not the symptoms or secondary cause. Once identified, simply removing the main root cause from the equation will solve the rest of it. https://lnkd.in/eUVdEEuU
