During Infrastructure Week earlier this month, the Biden-Harris Administration unveiled an updated map showcasing over 56,000 projects nationwide. In Maryland, DC and Virginia alone, more than $25B from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law has been invested, including $4.7B for Baltimore's Frederick Douglass Tunnel and over $700M for the new Potomac Long Bridge. These investments are not just about infrastructure, they're about catalyzing economic growth and fostering innovation. By modernizing critical transportation hubs, the federal government is laying the groundwork for smoother, more efficient connectivity that will spur job creation, facilitate commerce and drive forward-thinking solutions. The U.S. House of Representatives' Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure recently held a hearing to evaluate the current state of transportation in our nation. During the hearing, Washington State Department of Transportation Secretary Roger Millar spoke about the effects years of underinvestment has had on the industry. “For years, infrastructure investment did not keep pace with our needs. The impacts of a lack of adequate investment to preserve and enhance our systems for all users are readily apparent and will take time and hard work to overcome,” he explained in his testimony. “There is also the cost – both monetarily and in human suffering – which we all pay as a society when it comes to transportation funding and issues such as safety.” For the full article, go to: https://lnkd.in/ekDwjc2t #Transportation #Infrastructure #WSDOT #RoadwaySafety #InvestinginAmerica

2023 revealed opportunities to bolster infrastructure in many places around the country, and New Jersey is no exception. From water systems to wider roads, municipalities are striving to address a wide variety of infrastructure concerns. Yet new opportunities run parallel to these concerns. For example, climate adaptations as part of municipal planning can both increase resiliency and preserve resources. Infrastructure improvements require strategic planning and long-term capital investment arrangements, including securing financing opportunities, negotiating contracts, and navigating regulatory guidance.
