Managing Director ➤ Insurance | Risk Management Solutions for Commercial Real Estate Owners & Solar Contractors
Is there a fast and easy way to identify which job applicants, particularly for high-risk solar panel installation, are more likely to exhibit undesirable behaviors in the hiring process? Good news: There is. It’s called “integrity testing,” an online behavioral survey assessing honesty, trustworthiness, and dependability—crucial traits for solar panel installers who often work independently and at heights. Placing a test at the start of the hiring process helps you avoid: ✖️ Hiring an applicant who later fails a test, crucial in high-safety jobs. ✖️ Being discriminatory and not applying the test equally. The results we obtained from Safer Hire (one of the integrity testing firms that we recommend) are quite impressive for solar industry employers: ✅ Reduces the frequency and severity of workers’ comp claims. ✅ Increases the quality of employees hired, crucial in technical and high-risk jobs. ✅ Decreases employee turnover. ✅ Especially terminations due to safety violations. → The average return on investment for solar companies is significant!🤑 #Solarcontractors #solar #solarinstallation #solarpower #renewables Milestone Risk Management

𝐑𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐮𝐢𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐬 🛠️ Today, I want to shine a light on the recruitment challenges faced by electrical engineers in this sector and explore some effective solutions. Here are four key challenges and their corresponding solutions: 1. Specialized Skillset Requirement: Challenge: Finding electrical engineers with expertise in solar energy systems, including photovoltaic (PV) technology and grid integration, can be challenging due to the niche nature of these skills. Solution: Partnering with industry-specific organizations and universities to tap into talent pools specializing in renewable energy engineering programs. Additionally, offering targeted training and development programs to bridge skill gaps. 2. Demand Outpacing Supply: Challenge: The rapidly growing demand for solar energy projects often outpaces the supply of qualified electrical engineers, leading to talent shortages. Solution: Implementing proactive recruitment strategies, such as talent pipelining and continuous networking, to build relationships with potential candidates before positions become available. Additionally, offering competitive compensation packages and career advancement opportunities to attract and retain top talent. 3. Location-Specific Requirements: Challenge: Solar energy projects are often located in remote or challenging environments, requiring electrical engineers who are willing to work in diverse geographical locations. Solution: Highlighting the unique benefits of working on solar projects, such as contributing to environmental sustainability and gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology. Offering flexible work arrangements and comprehensive relocation assistance to candidates considering opportunities in remote areas. 4. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Challenge: Effective collaboration between electrical engineers and professionals from other disciplines, such as civil engineers and project managers, is essential for successful solar energy projects. Solution: Facilitating cross-functional training and team-building activities to foster strong interdisciplinary collaboration. Emphasizing the importance of communication skills and cultural fit during the recruitment process to ensure seamless integration within project teams. ________________________________ Ready to power up your solar energy projects with top-tier electrical engineering talent? Note on energy audit-An energy audit is a thorough assessment of a building or facilities energy consumption and efficiency with the goal of identify ways to reduce energy waste lower utilities cost and reduce carbon emission. During an energy audit trained professionals analyse a buildings energy use by reviewing utilizes bills conducting on site inspections ans using specialised tools and equipments to measure energy usage The audit typically includes an evaluation of the buildings lightenigs heating ventilation and air conditioning system(HVAC),insulations, windows and appliances. The auditor will also consider occupant behavior and maintainance practices that can impact energy consumption. After collecting and analysing the data the auditor will provide a detailed report that will out lines opportunities for energy savings along with recommendations for improvement and upgrades that can optimising energy efficiency These recommendation may include installing energy efficient lightening, upgrading HVAC system , improving insulation sealing air leaks and implementing energy management systems Energy audits are beneficial for both resendantial and commercial buildings as they can help reduce energy cost. Seeking Partnership Opportunities
It's strange being in growth mode when so much of the solar industry is (temporarily!) contracting. Looking to partner with solar professionals who aren't afraid to take on "the hardest job in solar"--servicing home solar systems. If you are or know of top tier solar Operations leaders, experienced, mature solar technicians/foremen, or investors who want to participate in this rapidly growing sector, let me know.

Curious to see your thoughts. To my renewable energy & power network, for whatever reason you have to relocate to a new state/region. Where would you choose? (For me, probably somewhere a bit warmer or potentially further out West) Since I cover the whole of the US for an industry that's both regionalized but also has a need nationwide, I often get asked which parts of the US we see the most qualified candidate pools, top level opportunities, competitive markets, and/or clients growing practices... With regard to our remote hire openings, below in green are the states that I'm noticing the most volume among opportunities and/or clients looking to expand their engineering teams to kick off the spring. Anyone surprised by Texas with all of the BESS/solar projects in ERCOT? Or New York with all the DG scale & microgrid projects? 😅 Clients include IPP/utilities, developers, OEM/EPCs, engineering firms. Level of roles range from engineering, engineering/project management to director level seeking backgrounds in solar engineering, battery energy storage, interconnection/power systems, substation, protection & controls, SCADA, operations & maintenance, civil site development, etc. Drop me a line if you're curious on any specific region! #renewablesnetworking #CAISO #WECC #NYISO #ERCOT #PJM #renewableenergy

Land acquisition for wind and solar projects is far easier in the North of Germany than in the South 🇩🇪 Why? In the past, Northern German families passed down their land in its entirety to the eldest son. Meanwhile, land was divided equally amongst family members in the South of Germany meaning plots got smaller and smaller. Therefore #projectdevelopers need to negotiate with far less land owners in the North, making their job much easier. Here’s a list of #wind and #solarenergy project developer positions open in the North of Germany! ⬇ Just DM or email our consultants stating the role you’re interested in to receive a detailed job description. P.S. Share this post with someone that could benefit from it 📲
