Early Childhood Director at Grand Street Settlement
Shout Out to my staff at Grand Street Settlement (1825) for a job well done 👏👏Today we had a successful Moving Up Ceremony with our preschoolers. Thank you to all for making it a success!!
Environments that allow children to engage in meaningful and purposeful play experiences are necessary, specially in early childhood.

With school right around the corner (and some that have already started) we’re getting calls from parents wondering if it’s too late to think about making a change to boarding school for the fall.
In most cases, it’s not too late! Whether you’re wanting a smaller, safer environment or your student’s school doesn’t offer the specialty programs they need, boarding school can often be a transformational opportunity. (For the whole family, not just your child.)
AND - boarding schools have such a mixed reputation.
So let’s hear it!
Finish this sentence in the comments:
“But aren’t boarding schools ___________________?”

Exactly ‼️Special education is a set of services designed to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities, rather than being confined to a specific physical location or setting. It emphasizes individualized support, accommodations, and strategies to help students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally within general educational environments/schools.

I absolutely agree with you, Amer. Teaching children the values of respect and appropriate behavior from a young age is crucial for building a better society. When we instill these qualities in children, we are shaping them to become responsible and empathetic individuals who understand the importance of treating others with kindness and consideration.
As an educator, I have witnessed firsthand the positive impact of teaching respect early on. By incorporating respectful behaviors into daily routines and reinforcing them through positive reinforcement, we can help children develop a strong sense of empathy and understanding towards others.
Furthermore, when children learn to be respectful and act appropriately, they also learn valuable social skills that enable them to navigate relationships effectively. These skills play a vital role in their personal growth and success later in life.
In today's rapidly changing world, where diversity and inclusion are increasingly important, teaching children respect is more critical than ever.
🌟 Our Foundation degree (Arts) Early Childhood & Education (Integrated Working with Families and Children) focuses on hands-on experience and in-depth learning, elevating your practice in working with children and families.

“On some days we have had as many as 12 classroom staff out which means our front office
staff are covering to maintain our adult to child ratios. This negatively impacts our overall program quality as these staff are pulled from
other work. Having highly qualified staff as well as qualified substitutes is crucial to providing early education for children and families in our community.”
