Founder | Leadership & Organizational Development Innovator | Team Engagement Expert | Everything DiSC® Certified Facilitator | MOTHER.
I started by asking, “give me a hell yes if HR for HR is the most overlooked thing in your workplace.” Hell. Yes. The people who pour into everyone else rarely get filled back up. Honored to spend time with HR leaders from across the Union Square Ventures portfolio of awesome companies. We used Everything DiSC Management to peel away the layers of our communication styles. And in some cases discovered we can’t draw a simple doodle. 🥹 Investing in HR is like adding rocket fuel to your business goals. Thank you, Lauren Young for the opportunity to give back to the HR community. PS. If you’re an HR pro, what’s one thing you are doing to invest in yourself? #hrdevelopment #everythingdisc #managerdevelopment #hrforhr

Experience of 12 years in UAE | 9 years of Real Estate Developers & Brokers | HR Manager, Operations & Administrator
Reflecting on my earlier career, I used to think HR was just about hiring and firing. Boy, was I wrong. HR is the backbone of every thriving organization. It’s about building a culture, fostering growth, and driving engagement. It’s far more strategic than most people realize. If you’re not investing in a solid HR strategy, you’re missing out on massive potential. Prioritize your people, and they’ll drive your success. #HRStrategy #PeopleFirst #CompanyCulture

Such a great callout! And I totally agree. I've had the opportunity to work with some amazing HR professionals in my career! And now I'm part of a really incredible team of HR professionals at ITA Group, Inc. I love at ITA Group we are the People & Culture Team. It sounds way less scary and gets to the heart of our work, supporting our people and our culture! #mentalhealthawarenessmonth
Early on in my career, I regarded the Human Resources Department the equivalent to being sent to the Principal's Office. I didn't really want to know them and I surely didn't want them to know who I was. I thought if I was dealing with HR, it meant that I was in trouble. When I became a manager, I started to partner with members of HR more frequently - from hiring, to performance management, to offboarding and everything in-between. It's the in-between where these professionals shine. It's the in-between where I've personally had to lean on my HR departments in my career to help me with struggles that I've had in my life. I wouldn't be where I'm at in my career, or in my personal life, without some of the HR professionals I've crossed paths with over the years. If you've taken the 30 seconds to read this post, and you are struggling with anything in the in-between, reach out to an HR Business Partner or someone in your organization's HR department. They aren't scary. They aren't out to get you. They are probably the biggest advocate you have within your organization. #mentalhealthawarenessmonth #hr #worklifebalance

Hr for geeks- what I’ve learnt so far: “Turn it off and on again” == “have you tried talking to the person you’re talking to me about?” “I mean we could do this weird backflip to bend what the system is built to do to do the thing you just said, but *sucking through teeth noise*” == “there’s this form that might ask you some questions you could consider in this scenario” “I have neither the time nor the crayons to explain why you’re asking the wrong question” == “…” Most important is the last. If they’re riding the pause, you’ve just been an idiot, so work out why, or even better, ask why. The most empathetic people I know work in hr, and, uniquely, I have never once been made to feel an idiot by someone in hr. I don’t know how they do what they do, but I’m glad they do it.

In building trust, transparency, empathy and respect are key ingredients. Especially in crises, honesty is non-negotiable, as withholding critical information only causes harm. It is worth noting, that team members are adults with lives beyond work. Being mindful of their humanity is vital for fostering trust and building a positive #WorkplaceCulture. https://lnkd.in/eB-vGzkV via HR Daily Advisor #CompanyCulture #ChangeManagement

Good morning, America! #TipThursday Why employee retention matters: ◦ Reduced Turnover is the very first measure we experience when retention matters. ◦ Cost savings when we don’t need to recruit for open roles. Factor in recruitment, hiring, training, and either a temp worker to keep operations moving forward, or a work back-log in the work creating bottle necks in operations. Replacing an employee can cost up to or more than double the annual salary. ◦ Knowledge retention: the longer an employee stays at an organization, the more institutional knowledge they build & the better they are at problem solving in real time. ◦ Increased competitiveness happens when you also present your employees with opportunities for growth as an effective employee retention strategy. This can help improve a company's advantage and could also become a differentiator in several business sectors. This is something to highlight for prospective employees who will care about the “why” behind low turnover. ◦ Sustainable business growth: higher retention rates organically lead to relying less on hiring new employees to fill vacancies. ◦ Succession Planning can be in progress with less fear that the investment required to develop employees for future positions will be lost.
