BAFTA-nominated Director & ex-BBC Producer / Award-winning video for global legal and finance firms/ Corporate Story Teller / Captivate clients and attract talent
Videos are perfect for attracting early career talent. And I can prove it. Here’s a great example we made for Clyde & Co. This was a short explainer video about Clyde & Co’s brilliant Bright Futures Programme. 💡 It’s a vital initiative which has been reintroduced with two main routes on offer. One of these routes is designed for young people from poorer socio-economic backgrounds, while the other is exclusively for young black people. 🎤 With our video everybody understood that the best way to showcase the program was to let those involved speak for themselves. So we interviewed a few future applicants, as well as one of Clyde & Co’s early careers recruitment managers. The series of videos helped Clyde & Co win a few awards, always a nice accolade. Have a watch through the end result below and let me know what you think 👀

You know… It’s rare to see a large, major international company take big steps towards recognizing their employees and securing the companies brightest future positive. Last week, I was extremely delighted to see many of my former colleagues at Northern Trust receive much deserved promotions after, in some cases, upwards of 10 to 20 years of consistent service. Doing some simple math, 907 of the more than 25,000 employees of the company were promoted last week, equating to almost 4% of their entire global workforce. In these times of mass layoffs, attrition, and so many other negative new stories, hitting our cycle on a regular basis, it’s pretty refreshing to see a company double down on their people by purposely going beyond comp and remaining true to their existing employees by further enabling their career paths and keeping them happy… and keeping things homegrown. Kudos and congratulations. Love it when the rights things are done for the right people. Technology matters. Expertise matters. Experience matters. But the people doing and leading the work and business are at the end of the day what should and will always matter the most. #MadeForGreater indeed
Wishing big congratulations to all our newly promoted employees on this career achievement. 🥳 When you join Northern Trust, from day one you can expect a focus on individual career development and growth. Our latest promotions announcement is just one example of the support you can experience. Official Title Promotions is one of many ways Northern Trust supports career growth, continuous learning and advanced skill building to drive professional advancement. 🌟 A Glimpse Into My Past: The Unforgettable Day🌟 Did you know my very first job was as a janitor in the company where my father worked? There's one day from that time I'll never forget: It is summer 2003. I was tasked with washing the floor in an office corridor where the ceiling construction had just been completed. The challenge? The whitewash used for the ceiling was everywhere on the floor. I ended up cleaning that corridor maybe 8 or 9 times, spending my entire working day on it. It was a day of seemingly endless mopping and scrubbing, but it's etched in my memory for good reason. That experience taught me the importance of perseverance and attention to detail. It was a vivid lesson in the value of hard work and the satisfaction of completing a task, no matter how daunting it might seem at the start. Moreover, it gave me an early appreciation for the impact of every role in a company, understanding that each task, no matter how small it may appear, contributes to the bigger picture. And to make this trip down memory lane even more special, here's a photo of me at 14, the year of my first paycheck, with my sister. It's a snapshot in time that represents the beginning of my journey to where I am today. #CareerJourney #FirstJob #LifeLessons #ProjectManagement #Throwback

💥 "In the best examples, we saw providers using a qualified careers adviser to deliver one-to-one careers guidance. This guidance was most effective when the adviser was knowledgeable about the options and pathways and had a good relationship with learners and their families. It was also important that the adviser understood the learner’s needs and aspirations, gave highly personalised advice and had experience or training in an area that was relevant to the learners in that provider." - quote from the recent Ofsted review of careers guidance in specialist settings. Thank you Ofsted for giving careers advisers recognition. Effective guidance is what they aspire to 🎖
