Contrail Observations Workshop https://lnkd.in/eJzEhV64 Observations play a pivotal role in understanding and mitigating the climate impact of contrails. Contrail observations come from many sources (ground cameras, satellite imagery, in-situ measurements, and more) with active research in each area. Please join us for a workshop to: Survey possible sources of observations Highlight ongoing research and potential areas of future research Share how observations have been used to evaluate avoidance trials Explore how observations may be assimilated into weather models Hosted by Breakthrough Energy, Imperial College, and Google Research

🤖The dual-detective robot: mastering text and images in a single glance! 👩🚀Kosmos-2.5 is like a smart robot that can both read a book and understand pictures in it at the same time. 🧠 It's special because usually, robots only do one or the other. 🖼️ This one can look at an image, find any writing there, and figure out what it means, including where it is on the page and how it's designed. It’s really good at reading images that have a lot of text📚, like a poster or a web page, and it can learn to do even more with a bit of training 🎧🤝 Interesting the podcast by Dr. Madeleine Daepp. It’s all about how #interns are making big waves with their ideas and teamwork 🌍🌦️ Microsoft is getting better at predicting weather with new tech, super important for places with lots of storms and floods (also Italy will benefit from it 100%) #AIRevolution #MachineLearning #Innovation #TechTrends #SmartTechnology #FutureOfWork #ArtificialIntelligence #VisualRecognition #NaturalLanguageProcessing #Robotics #DigitalTransformation #AIinAction #IntelligentSystems #MicrosoftAI #cuttingedgetech Microsoft Research Microsoft Madeleine Daepp

🚀 Check out this insightful blog post on "Diffusion Representation for Asymmetric Kernels"! The post extends the diffusion-map formalism to data sets induced by asymmetric kernels, proving analytical convergence results and proposing an algorithm for dimensional reduction. The work explores the use of a priori coordinate system and a coordinate system connected to the tensor product of Fourier basis for dimensionality reduction. Comparative results and the efficiency of the algorithms are verified with synthetic and real data from climate change studies. Read more at https://bit.ly/3Oaj8tV [cs.LG].

I'm excited to announce FireBench, a groundbreaking Google Research and Cloud launch supporting wildfire researcher's data need around the globe! The increasing severity of wildfires necessitates innovative solutions. Researchers from my team imagined creating a high-resolution dataset through simulations that empower researchers to delve deeper into the coupled interactions between fire and atmospheric forcing. Potential use cases include improving the accuracy of fire spread predictions through fire propagation modeling, investigating the complex relationship between wildfires and the atmosphere, and developing innovative machine learning models for wildfire science enabling fire authorities with the best possible information. Read more on our blog here: https://lnkd.in/gpf2jb5V Thanks to my team for their critical work Qing Wang, Cenk Gazen, Matthias Ihme, Yifan Chen, Carla Bromberg, John Anderson, Esmeralda Cardenas, Gabriela Muñoz, Antonio Lobato, and Adler Santos. #wildfire #research #dataset #GoogleAI #FireBench #launch #machinelearning #bigdata #GCP #GoogleCloud #weather #fire

In the wet, muddy places where America’s rivers and lands meet the sea, scientists from Oak Ridge National Laboratory are uncovering vital clues to better understand how coastal wetlands are evolving under #climatechange. Scientists are collecting and analyzing data on water, soils, plants, and microbes from diverse biomes, including the coastal marshes of Louisiana, Texas mangrove swamps, and the wetlands of the Chesapeake Bay and Lake Erie. Their goal? To enhance Earth system simulations, helping decision-makers prepare for the future. Learn more about how these efforts are shaping our understanding of coastal resilience: https://lnkd.in/e8RjYJHy
