There’s just so much to love in this piece! Inc. Magazine’s 2023/2024 winter issue ranks a women’s soccer club as ‘’Best in Business’’ for redefining its business model to demonstrate that mission and capital can co-exist. The Angel City Football Club of Los Angeles, one of the 12 teams in the National Women’s Soccer League, co-founded by Julie Uhrman, venture capitalist Kara Nortman, and actress/activist Natalie Portman – and backed by such notable investors as Jennifer Garner and Serena Williams – gives 10% of its sponsorship revenues to local nonprofits. Talk about a winning goal! As companies flock to associate their brands with the team, they do so knowing that they are also giving back to the community. So far, the club cemented $55 million in sponsorship deals through 2025, and has already allocated $2.3 million to various community organizations, including one delivering meals to people in need. This is yet another example of how women innovate in business – not only to increase the bottom line, but also to transform society around them for the better. https://lnkd.in/eDTJmjAV

Is your love for sports more than just a game? In a rapidly evolving world, the sports industry stands on the brink of revolution. Gone are the days when ticket sales, merchandise, and broadcasting rights were the sole pillars of revenue generation. Today, we embark on an untrodden path – harnessing the power of philanthropy to diversify and enrich our financial landscapes. In recent times, I’ve delved into the symbiotic relationship between sports associations and philanthropic initiatives. By forging meaningful partnerships with philanthropic organisations and embracing community-centric projects, sports entities can unlock new revenue streams while making a tangible impact on society. The crux lies in identifying mutual values and goals, thereby creating a win-win scenario for all parties involved. Moreover, engaging in philanthropy elevates an association's brand, enhancing its appeal to a broader audience including potential sponsors who prioritise corporate social responsibility (CSR). It’s not merely about donations; it’s about building lasting relationships that resonate with fans and stakeholders alike. By integrating philanthropy into their core strategy, sports associations can nurture a loyal fan base that extends beyond the terraces – a community united by shared values and aspirations. However, this journey requires a paradigm shift – viewing contributions not as financial transactions but as investments in the future of sports and society. It calls for thoughtful planning, strategic partnerships, and a deep understanding of the philanthropic landscape. The road ahead may seem daunting but fret not. The potential rewards far outweigh the challenges. As we stand at this crossroad, let us choose the path less travelled. Let us embrace philanthropy with open arms and usher in a new era of prosperity for the sports industry. The dawn of change is upon us – are you ready to lead from the front? ℹ️ https://lnkd.in/ga6V5puW #RevenueDiversification #StrategicPartnerships #CommunityImpact #Philanthropy #SportsBiz

TEACH ✨ INSPIRE ✨ DISRUPT || Creative Growth Strategist + Keynote Speaker - fueling entrepreneurial fire to help innovators and change-makers develop strategies and tools to accelerate growth, success, and impact.
:: BRAND LEADERSHIP IS GENERATED IN MANY WAYS :: Whether you’ve built or are building a company brand or personal brand there are many strategies for becoming a brand leader in your profession or sector/industry. My point of view is that the last strategy to focus on if you want to become a brand leader is the strategy of becoming THE best or THE leader of the pack. That’s because there can ONLY BE ONE, which means your chances of succeeding are slim. Instead, choose a different strategy for standing out: ➡️ Become a stand out employer ➡️ Improve the ways things are done in your industry for the people you serve ➡️ Become a community builder in you sector that promotes collaborative efforts that make your whole industry stronger ➡️ Start a foundation that give back to something you’re passionate about Even better - work to combine some of these strategies just like Christine Sinclair has!
Last week, Christine Sinclair — the GOAT of Canadian soccer, played her final game to close her international career. Along with this special night, she announced the launch of her foundation, a donor advised fund at Vancouver Foundation, dedicated to inspiring and empowering Girls with Goals. We are incredibly honoured to be supporting Christine in this significant milestone to cement her legacy! Read more: https://lnkd.in/egdnX-Qt

January 24 already! As we roll through January we think of setting priorities and goals as we look to tackle more, create value in what we do and build on the impact we have had. For the work I am fortunate to be part of with KidSport Calgary & Area and the Flames Sports Bank the process is similar, and the challenges, opportunities and energy are similar, they are just becoming overshadowed by the growing demand we have from low-income kids who need our support so they can play sports this year. Our investment in the lives of low-income kids and the sport registration fee assistance we provide them grew by 68% in 2023 as we raised and invested $2.9 million dollars back into our local sports economy and community. 2024 has quickly shown us that this demand will not be slowing down as we have already assisted 740 kids with sport registration fee assistance this year a 45% increase in demand from this same time last year. More families are in need right across Calgary & Area, Every segment of our community, every background, every sport, there are kids who need our help. As demand grows, our/my goal is to ensure we never have to say "No" to a qualified child. To make this possible we are going to need to grow our partner and donor base significantly this year and into the future. That will be at the top of my goal list for 2024 as saying no to a child who needs us is not something we want to do. This will be a community effort as we have a ton of work to get done in raising the funds locally to support the local kids who need us. So.....if the opportunity to invest in the lives of low-income kids so they can access sport, connects with you or your business, lets start the conversation and see how we can team up to make 2024 our next biggest year yet! Need some thought starters? - Sponsor an upcoming event - Wing Off, Barn Burner NHL Playoff Pool, Brian Burke's Targets for Kids, PepsiCo Golf Tournament....... - Host some clients or recognize some employees at these same great events - Become a multi-year partner as part of our Champions Club -building a partnership focused on employee engagement and corporate pride - Host a fundraiser or third party event - Donate an item to an upcoming auction or raffle - Donate your household empties through our KidSport Recycling Program - Get your equipment sanitized through our Flames Sports Bank sanitizing program - Donate some new or gently used equipment by dropping it off at any Wood Automotive Group dealership Let's build this together and work to change some lives for local kids who need our assist! I will leave you with this testimonial from a family we were able to help in 2023 "U are a miracle with out ppl like u my kids wouldn't be able to play, here on the rez 80% of kids can't play due to no equipment and no funding for equipment and I thank u will all my heart n soul for making it possible for my kids to play u don't realize it but u r changing lives and I can't thank u enough 💖"

Lack of collaboration and coordination among sports organisations may result in fragmented and inefficient philanthropic efforts. Collective action and collaboration are essential for maximizing impact, leveraging resources, and avoiding duplication of efforts in philanthropy. Foster collaboration and partnerships among sports associations, leagues, teams, and stakeholders to align efforts, share best practices, and amplify impact. Pool resources, expertise, and networks to tackle shared challenges and address community needs more effectively. #CollectiveImpact
