It's about understanding, not just responding. ⏰Timing is Everything: We respect that every client has their own unique rhythm. We approach each interaction with the priority of meeting their needs in that moment. 🤝Be Invested: Every interaction is an opportunity to strengthen relationships with our clients and candidates. By understanding their challenges, we can approach them with questions that truly matter. A helpful five-minute read. 🤓 "Before you hire people for leadership positions, it’s crucial to gauge their ability to be civil and resolve disputes." ✔️ "By the time most candidates for top leadership positions advance to the interview stage, it’s clear they have the required knowledge and experience. But an increasingly important differentiator in the hiring decision is whether candidates will add to or detract from the level of civility in the workplace—and whether they can effectively resolve employee conflicts." 🤝 "“Conflict resolution could not be more important than it is right now,” says Davonne Helmer, co-leader of the global HR officers practice at ZRG Partners, an executive recruitment firm. “With five generations in the workplace, a completely bifurcated and bizarre political climate, data pointing to a significant slide backwards in diversity policies, and people more stressed, burnt out or on edge than ever before, conflict resolution is critical not just for getting by, but also for getting the best from your team.”" 🙌 "Workplace conflict has become a growing problem for C-suite leaders. Nearly two-thirds of U.S. workers say they’ve experienced or witnessed incivility in their workplace within the past month, according to new SHRM research. And people who rate their workplace as uncivil are three times more likely to be dissatisfied with their job and twice as likely to leave in the next year." ❌ "In addition, a 2022 survey by The Myers-Briggs Company cites a rise in workplace conflict incidents, noting that poor communication and lack of transparency are the top causes of conflict." 🔥 #DanIrvin #ConflictResolution #InterviewPrep

"Train people well enough so they can leave, treat them well enough so they don't want to." - Richard Branson ICYMI - We just dropped our latest newsletter featuring our ProductivityZone™. Those involved in hiring or managing people will attest there’s often a significant difference between what makes a great employee on paper and what makes a great employee in actuality. Practically speaking, when a candidate looks perfect on paper, is there any way to avoid costly hiring errors and high turnover? There is. Most organizations are adept in describing job functions and gauging an individual’s ability to complete desired tasks, but how do we examine a current or potential employee’s “fit” through the lens of character? 1. Clearly define values – If we have not defined our values as an organization, we cannot hope to predict whether an employee’s values and character will align with our own. 2. Observe more broadly – A typical interview is performative in nature. A potential employee tries to anticipate an employer’s questions and prepare compelling answers. But the goal of an interview shouldn’t be to see who performs best in this staged environment but to truly get to know a candidate. 3. Set expectations Ever get frustrated by managers who “save up” mistakes or concerns for an annual review and end up expressing displeasure with something that happened nine months ago? We never leave feedback for an annual review. Should company values be maintained during the hiring process? The obvious answer is a resounding YES, however, that is not representative of what is going on in today's hiring atmosphere. Time and time again, I hear horror stories from my clients about the hiring process and how they have been treated by different companies. I am shocked to hear the names of some of these companies and their misdeeds during the recruiting process. The issue is that there is a clear disconnect between the values they uphold and how they represent themselves during the hiring process. -> Poor or inexistent communication -> No transparency -> Hiring managers not being professional (showing up to interviews late, not being prepared, not dressing professionally, etc.) -> Etc - the list goes on! The point here is that your recruiting process should uphold your brand, your company values, and your reputation. Why, in 2024, we are letting this process go completely crap is beyond me! Candidates deserve better! Let's all try to do better....much better!

To listen or not to listen - that is the question. When hiring to lighten your workload, it's easy to simply say, "do this" or "do that. But ask yourself: Does it genuinely lighten your contractor's workload? Does it genuinely simplify your own workload? Hiring is a necessity in business, aimed at simplifying our lives. That's WHY, we bring in experts who know better than we do. Now, here's the question: Why hesitate to trust that expert? A common mistake by many leaders is pushing an opinion without expertise and this can lead to sour relationships and bad results. Trust is everything in collaboration!

Thinking of starting pulse surveys in your company? Here are 3 must-know tips: 1️⃣ Launching a pulse survey may be quick and easy, but a true listening strategy requires time and resources. Ask yourself beforehand, "Am I ready for this?" 2️⃣ Gather what you already have: performance data, exit interviews, old survey results. This will help you to better target the new survey. 3️⃣ Always take action and communicate about survey results. For more insights, check out this article:

It can indeed be frustrating when there's a noticeable difference between the expectations set for external candidates and the internal policies within an organization. This incongruity, especially when it comes to notice periods, can create challenges for both hiring managers and prospective employees. It's important for organizations to maintain transparency and consistency in their recruitment processes and internal policies. This not only helps in building trust but also ensures a smoother experience for all parties involved. If you find yourself in such a situation, it might be worthwhile to communicate your concerns with the hiring manager or HR representative. Open dialogue can lead to a better understanding of each other's perspectives and potentially result in adjustments to the recruitment process or internal policies. In the professional world, aligning expectations and fostering open communication is key to creating a positive and efficient working environment.
