Charities have seen one of the biggest dips in people taking annual leave in the last year, according to a report. Many reasons have been explored: - work culture and expectations - staff shortages - peak times and lack of flexibility - blurred lines, mainly around hybrid working - fear of falling behind their peers - unlimited annual leave, sometimes seen as a perk can be somewhat overwhelming One feels this is a trend that needs to change and quickly, to save further staffing issues down the road. #charity #annualleave #worklifebalance

It's sad to read that Payroll Giving is experiencing a decline, in this report by Charities Aid Foundation (CAF). It's a great way to make a regular donation to a charity of your choice through your monthly/weekly salary. Here are some ways #Employers can encourage the take-up of this important facility to support charities: - Offer a Payroll Giving scheme and support it with employer matching. - Employers can choose to match donations in full, in part, or include a monthly matching cap to suit all budgets. - Bring people together to give. For example, a festive matching campaign is a great way to engage employees and support good causes.  - Drive a positive culture of Payroll Giving from the top down. Talk about Payroll Giving both internally and externally and provide clear and accessible information. - Employers can also seek support in driving awareness in their schemes by working with a Professional Fundraising Organisation (PFO) who will host bespoke site visits and campaigns to drive engagement. Interesting that a lot of younger people have probably not heard of #PayrollGiving but would be interested in giving to charity this way. I work with a charity and appreciate the difficulties faced raising funds - regular donations can give a charity some financial security along with other forms of income generation.

Hard-pressed charities are missing out on much-needed income as fewer employees are donating through Payroll Giving, our research has found. The latest data shows: ➡️ The number of employees using Payroll Giving has fallen by 13% since 2020 ➡️ There are now only 516,000 employees giving via this method, out of 30 million people on PAYE who could be eligible Despite the decline, our Payroll Giving policy briefing highlights clear opportunities to turn this downward trend around. It’s concerning that the number of employers and employees taking advantage of this valuable benefit is declining. It provides an incredibly powerful platform for companies to support their giving in the workplace and can be a lifeline for charities at a time when their incomes are squeezed. That’s why we would like to see a renewed and joined-up focus on promoting Payroll Giving from providers, employers and the Government. For individuals who can afford to give, it’s a simple way to donate regularly or even on an ad-hoc basis to causes that matter to you.
