Creative partner helping nonprofits implement an effective strategy to highlight the impact of their programs and strengthen their donor base.
Nonprofit leaders, what are your thoughts on this? Many argue that there's a systemic bias in how funding gets distributed across the nonprofit sector. Larger, well-established organizations tend to receive the lion's share of grants and donations, while smaller grassroots groups doing important work struggle to keep their doors open. Is it fair that the big names get bigger while emerging causes fight for crumbs? Or does it make sense to fund proven models over unproven ones? Share your perspective: Do we need an overhaul in funding practices to level the playing field, or is the current system working as intended? #nonprofitequity #equitablegiving #resourceallocation

Fundraising shouldn't be like waiting for guests to come to your party; it should be like bringing the party to them. Traditionally, #nonprofits focus on attracting donors by encouraging them to engage directly with their organization, "look at me!" This model relies heavily on #donors taking the initiative, which can be a huge barrier for attracting and engaging new donors. A shift is to meet people where they are and create spaces where missions meet #community interests, "look at us, together!" It's a call to #innovate and adapt, and make the act of giving feel less like an obligation and more like an expression of shared values. By taking a community-centered approach to #fundraising, nonprofits can create more organic and dynamic environments for giving. I like that clip you posted, Pooya Pourak! The reason I think that the charity sector needs to ‘go to where the people are already living their lives’ (i.e. workplaces, schools, hobby communities, such as music and sport)…is because we need to focus on developing donors who intentionally make giving a part of their lives. While traditional approaches to fundraising for the programs and activities run by charities need to continue, I think the sector will continue to struggle if it continues to rely on these methods without bringing more purposeful attention to raising new donors: people and companies that choose to give as part of their lived experience and budget, regardless of what charities they support. The reason is relatively simple: fundraising from people who, on their own, don’t choose to make giving a part of their lives and budget is very difficult and, therefore, expensive. Saying this differently: while fundraising raises money for charities, it doesn’t create a culture of giving. These points are supported by the data that clearly shows we are in an era of declining citizen participation in charities. We believe the donor-advised fund (DAF) is the primary tool to ‘take charity to the people’ because it empowers each person to choose which causes and charities to give to when and how they want. So when you take a DAF as the primary charity tool to an existing community of people, like a workplace, the conversation becomes about why it’s important to give back, as opposed to why everyone should give to a single specific charity that they have likely not had much voice in choosing. People give more when they choose their preferred causes and charities, just like people play more when they choose their favourite sport or hobby. As such, the DAF is a tool about charity, whereas fundraising is about charities. The DAF and fundraising can and will coexist well once more people begin to get their heads around what DAFs are and how they help engage people in giving charitably. This was such a fun conversation, Pooya. You ask wonderful questions. Thanks again for having me on the podcast! #CharitableGiving #DonorCentric #Empowerment #Community #Innovation

That means the little guys who are working hard to make a big impact in our communities are often overlooked. But here's the good news - you can help change that! By supporting smaller nonprofits, your donations can go a long way in helping local causes and making a real difference. And guess what? It doesn't take millions to be a philanthropist; even small contributions can add up to a massive change. Ready to make a difference? Multiply your impact. Do your work for (or with) an organization that relies on donations to operate? 💸 When you visualize what a “typical” donation looks like, you might think of a giant written check with a ton of 0s at the end. While that may be true of some organizations’ donor bases, the world of philanthropy and giving is changing… in a “micro” way. We get it… as an organization, it might seem counterintuitive to not only accept smaller donations but actually encourage them. How can you possibly meet your goals if you’re encouraging $5 donations instead of $100 donations? The answer is simple…you do both. A micro-donation strategy does not need to replace every other fundraising strategy you have, but there are huge risks to not including a micro-donation strategy at all. There are 3 key reasons why a micro-donation strategy is non-negotiable: 1️⃣ It Diversifies Your Revenue Streams. 2️⃣ It Expands Your Donor Pool. 3️⃣ It Encourages Sustainable Long-Term Giving. As the past few years have revealed, we can never predict what the future will look like. And, as many organizations have unfortunately found out, putting all of your revenue eggs in one kind of donor basket is a recipe for disaster. Offering micro-donations lowers the risk of losing out on revenue should we find ourselves in another bout of unprecedented times.
