In the latest article of The Chronicle of Philanthropy, the featured special report called "The Long Play," left me hopeful for our sector. So many gems by the authors. But my favorite of this piece was this graphic showing the magic of recurring giving. I was shocked to see that the difference over 5 years is over 3:1 in favor of the $10 monthly donor vs the $100 annual donor. Don't have me talking to the air, what do you think of recurring monthly giving? Are you implementing this currently as part of your fund development plan? I know of a local nonprofit that is doing incredible work, Generating Income For Tomorrow that uses this model and many others to generate income for tomorrow 😎 How many of you are spending tens of thousands annually to entice your donors to donate above and beyond their annual gala ticket, with no guarantee it will work? Think of the time spent and opportunity costs associated with your annual events versus the retention that comes from asking your already loyal audience to commit to $10 per month.
