📍 Today, ASCAME’s President Mr. Ahmed El Wakil participated in the ICC World Chambers Federation Committee and at the WCF Europe & Asia Summit, taking place in Istanbul (Türkiye) until tomorrow. Mr. El Wakil had institutional meetings with M. Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu, President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye TOBB, and the presidents of different Asian and European chambers of commerce. 🗨️ ASCAME’s President claimed for cooperation to face current challenges, such as climate change and sustainable transition (green & blue economy), digital transformation, new financing alternatives for SMEs, female entrepreneurship, job creation, and new business opportunities: “ASCAME aims to unite all the players in the Mediterranean private sector to contribute to the development of the economic exchanges within the region and to strongly encourage Euro-Mediterranean Association and the regional integration, through the essential role played by the private sector”. 🗨️ Mr. El Wakil added: “Chambers of commerce have been a key driver in the development of millions of companies and have worked with governments and institutions to find solutions to local, regional, and global challenges by supporting the private sector. Our collaboration is vital to bringing business together with government and civil society to co-create the solutions to our common problems”. 🎯 The Europe & Asia Summit focuses on the theme of “A Collaborative Approach to Climate Action”. This short clip made me pause and reflect. 🤔 In the video, Singapore’s founding Prime Minister, Mr. Lee Kuan Yew, compares the quality of Singapore to the durian—a fruit known for its tough exterior with flesh that's high in protein. 🇸🇬 He uses this metaphor to illustrate the nation’s strength, toughness, and resilience. 💪 💪 This comparison got me thinking about personal growth and development. A few days ago marked my first CILT International Convention since assumption of office as the International President of our esteemed Institute. As the current Chair of the #WSG Asia Pacific Regional Council, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in the World Services Group 2024 Asia Pacific Regional Meeting in #Tokyo last week. Your presence and engagement were instrumental to the success of our gathering.
