Happy Independence Day! As we celebrate this summer holiday, let’s pause to reflect on the foundation of what our nation was built upon - that all people have the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, a freedom often overlooked when in the midst of our everyday routine. In honor of our freedom, consider taking a few moments to think of the freedoms we enjoy and the people who have positively impacted your life. This may be the perfect opportunity to jot down what you’re grateful for and express gratitude to those who touched your life in a meaningful way. Writing it down solidifies it in your mind, is easy to do, and is something you can refer back to when you need an extra boost. In terms of expressing gratitude to people, don’t worry about how long it’s been. How would you feel if someone in your past reached out to you, out of the blue and shared how much of a meaningful difference you made in his/her life? More importantly, what closure and potential happiness would it give to you by doing this? Take this opportunity to make these next few days a spectacular celebration and appreciation of all the good in your life! Wishing you a safe and joyful 4th of July! Gilda (Jill-da)

Happy Memorial Day, everyone! As we honor those who have bravely served and sacrificed for our country, it's also a perfect moment to reflect on our daily routines. Yes, habits can be incredibly beneficial—they streamline our lives, help us achieve our goals, and reduce stress. But, have you ever thought about the down side of being too habitual? On Memorial Day, when we step back to remember and reflect, it’s a good time to consider how our routines may be holding us back from truly engaging with the world around us. Think about it! When was the last time you took a spontaneous road trip or tried something out of your ordinary? Habits, while comforting, can sometimes keep us in a bubble, away from new experiences and opportunities. They can create a false sense of security and even stifle creativity. So, while I appreciate the structure habits bring me, I’ll use my day off to inspire me to break them. To honor those who’ve shown immense bravery by embracing a bit of that spirit myself. I’ll try something new, challenge my routines, and I might just find a fresh perspective waiting for me. Here’s to striking the perfect balance between cherished habits and new adventures! Cheers to a reflective and meaningful Memorial Day! 🇺🇸✨ #memorialday #honoringourheroes #USA #TheMorganConnection

Independence Day: A Call for Freedom and Justice As we celebrate our nation’s independence today, let’s remember that true freedom goes beyond the boundaries of our country. It’s about the safety, dignity, and justice for every individual, especially those who are vulnerable. Recently, the horrific incident involving a doctor from RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata has shocked us all. This Independence Day, while we honor the sacrifices of those who fought for our nation’s freedom, let’s also stand up for those who are fighting for justice today. The freedom we cherish must extend to ensuring that every person, regardless of their profession, gender, or background, can live and work without fear. As we celebrate, let’s pledge to demand justice for the victims of such heinous acts and work towards a society where safety and respect are the rights of all. Let’s not just celebrate our independence; let’s commit to making our country truly free from violence, injustice, and fear. Justice for RG Kar victim. Justice for all. #IndependenceDay #endviolence #standforjustice #humanrights
Wishing everyone a day filled with pride, joy, and gratitude. Let’s continue to strive for a better, brighter future for all. Happy Independence Day!

This past weekend I was honored to take part in celebrating my neighbor's 104th birthday. Yes, 104! I alway love being able to spend time listening to him, a man that lived through the Great Depression, served valiantly on a submarine during World War II, and up until last year would be outside doing light work in his yard or working on his lawnmower. His resilience, wisdom, and perspectives always leave a mark on me, and I wanted to share some of the invaluable lessons I have gleaned from our conversations over the last few years: 1. Resilience in the Face of Adversity: Despite enduring the hardships of the Great Depression, including economic turmoil and widespread unemployment, he maintained an unwavering spirit of resilience. His ability to adapt to challenging circumstances serves as a powerful reminder that resilience is key to overcoming any obstacle. 2. The Power of Community: During his time in the military, he emphasized the importance of camaraderie and teamwork. Serving on a submarine required trust and cooperation among crew members, highlighting the profound impact of a strong support network. Building meaningful connections and leaning on others during tough times can make all the difference. 3. Embracing Change: From navigating the uncertainties of war to witnessing technological advancements over the past century, he emphasized the importance of embracing change. Rather than resisting or fearing change, he encouraged a mindset of curiosity and adaptability, recognizing that change often brings new opportunities for growth and innovation. 4. Gratitude and Perspective: Despite facing unimaginable challenges, he maintained a deep sense of gratitude for the blessings in his life. His perspective serves as a powerful reminder to cherish each moment and find gratitude even in the midst of adversity. He is so excited and grateful every time I take him over a plate of BBQ or a slice of dessert. 5. The Importance of Service: Above all, his life is a testament to the profound impact of service to others. Whether it was serving his country during wartime or lending a helping hand to those in need, he exemplified the true meaning of selflessness and sacrifice. He is a large part of why I decided to serve in my city's government. In today's fast-paced world, we can all benefit from the timeless wisdom of those who have come before us. I hope I can honor his legacy by embodying the qualities of resilience, community, adaptability, gratitude, and service in my own life.

Federal holidays, like today, are much more than a paid day off. Juneteenth was recognized as a federal holiday in 2021, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. As we reflect on the meaning of this day, it is important to acknowledge the many freedoms we have in modern-day society. These include, but are not limited to: the freedom to pursue education the freedom to choose what career to pursue the freedom to travel and live in different towns, states, and countries the freedom to have access to food around every corner We all experience these freedoms to different degrees. That is why it is important to express gratitude for what we have each and every day. So as many people enjoy their day off today, take some time to reflect on all the freedom and privilege we experience.

Regardless of what people think of birthdays, I always use them as a prime opportunity to reflect on the life I’ve led and the lessons learned. And boy, am I feeling grateful to be celebrating my 33rd lap around the sun. Some say that the 33rd year is the year of enlightenment. Maybe it is?! But I don’t actually believe that enlightenment is a thing you can achieve. Like healing, I think it’s a process - it’s not linear. It’s not an endpoint. It’s ongoing. And isn’t that a blessing in itself?! 3 things I’ve learned: 1. Just because something is done or believed by the majority doesn’t make it right. Listen to your intuition... If it feels off, it usually is - no further explanation needed. 2. It’s okay to change your mind. We evolve and learn new things. Embrace it, baby! 3. Most people are doing their best with what they know. Try not to take things personally. 3 things I’m grateful for: 1. All the experiences I’ve gained, lessons I’ve learned, and people I’ve met along the way. Particularly you Alec Dunning 2. My curiosity and hunger for learning. Essentially, my unwillingness to accept “the norm”. 3. The love & support I continually receive from my family and friends. I truly feel LOVED. And that really is something to be grateful for. Life is magic. 🤍✨🪄

🌟Always Be Grateful, Yet Strive for Progress🌟 In our journey through life, it’s essential to maintain a balance between gratitude for what we have and the drive to achieve more. Gratitude anchors us, reminding us of the progress we've made and the blessings we've received. It's a powerful reminder that contentment isn't found in accumulating more, but in appreciating what we already possess. Yet, this doesn't mean we should stop pushing forward. A progressive mindset allows us to see beyond our current circumstances, encouraging us to grow, learn, and evolve. The key is to channel that ambition without losing sight of the present. “Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” – Melody Beattie Let’s celebrate our achievements and be thankful for the opportunities we’ve had, while also setting new goals and striving for even greater heights. Remember, it's possible to be both content and ambitious—grateful for today, but always working towards a better tomorrow. #Gratitude #Progress #Mindset #Growth #Leadership #PersonalDevelopment #Success #Motivation #Inspiration #CareerGrowth #SelfImprovement #Ambition #PositiveThinking #Balance #LifeGoals
