Our sustainability team has been sharing insightful tips on how to make this Christmas more eco-friendly Here are a few of the suggestions they shared with us; 🎄 Dressing for the party season Opt for sustainable fashion this year by wearing clothes you already own or consider borrowing from friends and family. Check out second-hand stores for a unique Christmas party outfit. 🍽️ Setting the table Say no to single-use tablecloths and napkins. Invest in a durable tablecloth to reduce waste. Stained tablecloth? Wash at lower temperatures to minimize your environmental impact. 🌍 Know your logos Choose UK-produced food to cut down on food miles. Look for sustainability certifications like RSPO for palm oil and MSC for seafood to support eco-friendly practices. 🍏 Eat seasonally Enjoy locally grown, seasonal produce for your Christmas meals to reduce energy consumption and support local farmers. Embrace the flavors of homegrown foods this festive season. 🍽️ Cut your food waste Plan ahead to minimize food wastage, a leading cause of deforestation. Store leftovers in reusable containers like Tupperware and foil instead of clingfilm to keep them fresh. 🌱 Eat more plants Reduce food waste by opting for plant-based meals over poultry, a highly wasted food in the UK. Embrace plant-based options for a healthier choice for you and the environment. 🚫 Don’t waste food Combat food waste by exploring creative ways to use leftovers and prevent perfectly good food from ending up in landfills. Let's make this Christmas season less wasteful and more sustainable. Thanks to Angie Lillistone and the team for these Do you have any others you want to share? #Sustainability #ChristmasTips #EcoFriendlyPractices

I’ve been thinking more about the waste that often comes with holiday shopping — excess packaging, single-use wrapping and things that don’t last. But working at Dairy Farmers of America has opened my eyes to how our more than 10,000 farmer-owners show their commitment to sustainability every single day. Their example reminds me that we can all make more sustainable choices in our own lives. Here are three of my favorite sustainable gift ideas from DFA’s recent article: 🍪 Give consumable gifts like chocolates, specialty cheeses or candles 🎬 Gift experiences like cooking classes or movie memberships 💳 Send a digital restaurant gift card for a dining experience These small choices can add up, just like our farmers’ efforts. If you need some more ideas, check out the full list here >>> https://lnkd.in/gQuPWMHz

🎄🎁 𝟱 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝗰𝗼-𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 The holiday season is often synonymous with sharing and generosity, but it can also generate a lot of waste. 𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗮, 𝟱𝟰𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝘁𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗯𝗮𝗴𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿? Here are some ideas to help you make a positive impact. 🌍 1️⃣ 𝗢𝗽𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗴𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝘄𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 Instead of using traditional wrapping paper, explore other options such as: • Leftover fabrics or scarves (Have you heard of the Japanese art of Furoshiki?! 🌟). • Metal or wooden boxes that can later be used for storage. 2️⃣ 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗴𝗶𝗳𝘁𝘀 By choosing local, handmade products or items from certified B Corp companies, you not only support the local economy but also encourage responsible practices. There’s no shortage of ideas! • Locally made & eco-friendly cosmetics. • Subscriptions to green initiatives like farm boxes. • Experiences (workshops, shows, dining, lessons, etc.) that promote shared moments instead of material items. If you have leftovers, share them with local organizations that redistribute food to those in need. Every saved bite makes a difference. 4️⃣ 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗯𝘆 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 If you have a few free hours, many organizations would love a helping hand. Whether it’s distributing meals, caring for animals in shelters, or simply keeping company to isolated individuals, giving back to your community is a rewarding way to spread the holiday spirit. 💛 You’ll come out of it feeling enriched and fulfilled. 5️⃣ 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻 “𝘇𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲” Set up a sorting station at home to make recycling and composting easier. Encourage your guests to take home leftovers in reusable containers (goodbye disposable dishes!). Let this festive season be filled with warmth, respect for the environment, and rich moments of sharing! 🌟 #EcoFriendly #SustainableHolidays #ZeroWaste #PositiveImpact #GreenTransition #Bcorp
