What is the function of E2 interface, E2 nodes, and E2AP in communication between Near-RT RIC? ** E2 interface is an open interface between near-RT RIC and vDU, vCU in 5G It runs on top of the SCTP protocol over IP E2 interface supports two protocols i.e. E2 Application Protocol (E2AP) and E2 Service Model (E2SM) E2AP messages can embed different E2 Service Models, which implement functionalities related to RAN metrics and RAN Control E2 Service Model includes E2 Report, E2 Insert, E2 Control and E2 Policy E2 service model can be used for three applications Key Performance Matrix (KPM), Network Interfaces (NIs) and RAN Control (RC) ** E2 node: in the O-RAN architecture, each of the disaggregated network function O-CU-CP, O-CU-UP and O-DU of a gNB or a combined O-eNB are called the E2 nodes. E2 nodes support E2 interface towards near RT-RIC and O1 interface towards non-RT RIC. An E2 node can consist of one or many RAN Functions. Each RAN Function is identified by a RAN Function ID. The E2 node advertises to the E2SM the RAN functions it supports using the RAN Function OID as the identifier ** in short The original intent of the E2 interface was to allow any application (vendor-defined, operator defined, and third-party) to have a closed loop, low latency, feedback-based control of the RAN. The design of the E2 interface and the E2AP protocol makes integration and debugging hard.

Summary on NOC & DCN - NOC is the central operation and maintenance center - it’s used by network operators & vendors to manage the network - managing the network can be done as below : 1- login remotely to nodes 2- browse alarms ( current and historical ) & Troubleshooting 3- monitor performance 4- collect data 5- check nodes status , back restore , protection 6- Network optimisation - DCN : data communication network - it’s the way to connect the NOC with network elements like ( Transport , RAN , Core ,… ) - DCN offer low cost and time saving solution to manage the network - no need for frequent and regular site visits to check the network , meanwhile we can check and monitor every thing remotely through DCN - of course we will have to visit site in case of DCN down ( because that means the node is un reachable and can’t be managed / controlled remotely - we have 2 methods to monitor and control the nodes remotely through DCN 1- GUI through NMS 2- CLI ( command line interface ) - EOW : engineering order wire , it’s a voice channels can be used between sites to transport voice calls between telecom engineers managing the sites but not widely used - EOW uses specific bits in TDM frames like E1 & STM in PDH SDH legacy sites to allow voice channels between sites - a lot of types of DCN are available like Inband vs outband Internal vs external Routed va switched - to understand DCN you have to focus on the below points : Ethernet services ( ELINE and ELAN ) VPLS & VPRN OSPF area Static routing Clock Sync types VLANs STP QinQ MPLS Contact me if you need to know details of IP Transmission course Whatsapp +4917622995214

Some of the usual t-shoots in outband/inband DCN come when a DCN transport medium suffers damage and protection never was designed. Network Topologies ever need DCN transport protection to avoid management interrupt of their remote elements: radios, switches, and routers.
