I’ll know more often than not from my first conversation who’s likely for a counter-offer And just a few questions later, who’s accepting (8 years in the industry will do that to you) So before going ahead with any interviews, if I think this will happen, I’ll always request you speak to your Manager first. Heck I’ll even coach you through the conversation. They may genuinely value you Or your request is easier to approve than the average 95 hours of line manager time that is spent recruiting and onboarding (if doing directly). You’ll be surprise what you can achieve. So a reminder for those thinking of starting their search in 2024, have a think on whether your drivers for leaving could be achieved at your current company And if you’re unsure/want advice then reach out!
