While many critical service businesses couldn’t have predicted or prevented today’s CrowdStrike outage, they could have easily improved their recovery time — by having dedicated IT professionals. Although Crowdstrike identified the issue and provided the fix, businesses still need someone in-house with the technical know-how to swiftly react and boot the affected systems in safe mode, and manually delete the problematic update files/driver (this practically implies Linux ecosystem folks perhaps). Communication channels are equally critical. The ones having liasons with Crowdstrike/ Microsoft stood a better chance of a relatively faster recovery.
