Top tips for championing inclusivity during Pride month...and beyond! 🌈 Be an ally, learn about LGBTQIA+ issues to enhance your understanding and support of the community. 🌈 Examine and challenge your own biases to cultivate a more inclusive mindset. 🌈 Confront discriminatory language or behaviours, promoting respect and acceptance. 🌈 Utilise inclusive language and pronouns to foster a welcoming atmosphere for everyone. 🌈 Listen to LGBTQIA+ experiences and concerns with empathy and without judgement. 🌈 Advocate for policies and practices that promote equality and protect against discrimination. LGBTQIA+ inclusion should take place 365 days of the year. This is why Lifetime Group has its Equity, Diversity and Inclusion strategy in place to make sure we’re always considering the rights and needs of the LGBTQIA+ community when decisions are being made, and to avoid any kind of ‘performative allyship’.

Although I am in the early years of my professional career, I cannot express enough gratitude to work at such an amazing, inclusive, and open-minded place like About Fresh. I cannot imagine working at a more inclusive workplace, filled with allies and big colorful hearts. I am feeling extra filled with pride during this pride month, as my partner Steph and I celebrate another year out & proud in our personal and professional lives. While many people are not as fortunate as I am in this area, I hope people take moments this month to reflect and think about how they can be more inclusive or more of an active ally to all people in the LGBTQIA+ (and beyond!) community. Here are some ways to become a stronger ally:  1. Educate yourself - find out the history and current struggles of people in this community  2. Don’t assume you know what someone needs - you know what they say about assuming! 3. Practice active listening - try to digest the information before creating a response  4. Ditch putting people into boxes - boxes are out, and spectrums are in! 5. Recognize your privilege - use that power for GOOD!

The campaign’s latest PSA, "American Dreams," is a powerful reminder that no one should be denied the opportunity to pursue their dreams simply because of who they are. As Ad Council President and CEO Lisa Sherman put it, "There is more that unites us than divides us." The campaign calls on each of us to recognize the #inequities impacting the LGBTQ+ community and challenges us to be part of the change. How many times do we look at something “exclusive” and think - I want that! I want to have that. I want to be part of that. As a society, we see “exclusive” as something more valuable, sometimes unattainable, and often only meant for a certain few. What does that kind of message and thought process do when it comes to valuing inclusion? Have we set ourselves up for failure in creating spaces and experiences where everyone belongs?
