Success doesn't come from external validation - it's found within. Who agrees? It's not the accolades, awards, recognition, and praise from others. Sure - those will give you a dopamine hit (woohoo), but long-term fulfillment and happiness comes from intrinsic sources, such as personal growth, meaningful relationships, and a sense of purpose. So, putting too much emphasis on external rewards can lead to a cycle where you're constantly seeking the next high without ever feeling truly satisfied. Rachel Platten went from relative anonymity for 13 years to becoming a global sensation with "Fight Song" which has been streamed over a billion times worldwide. She's performed on stage with Taylor Swift, had her image on billboards in Time Square, won an Emmy and so SO much more. Listen in to this raw conversation. Follow 'How I Built My Small Business' on your favorite streaming platform. You won't want to miss this inspiring episode. Out now. #Success #Happiness #Journey #PersonalGrowth #Motivation #Mindset

Understanding you are enough is an acquired skill
I loved talking with Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, Billie Jean King, Reese Witherspoon, Ava DuVernay, and Megan Rapinoe for my new “Moments That Make Us” series. We laughed, we had fun, and we went deep. You can watch all of the episodes here:

When you lose Track, go Back! As we have painfully seen in the TV debate between Biden and Trump, even on the biggest stages, people sometimes black out. Many of us have experienced blacking out during a talk or presentation. When this happens, we often want to move forward, but we can't. Even though we feel like we are thinking of the next step, nothing is actually happening. Our brain is frozen. All is black. Often, the best strategy is to pause, take a deep breath, and then go back to your last known point. Just repeat what you have just said, or give a short summary of what you have said so far, and the next step will appear. This method can help you regain your composure and continue confidently. Remember, it’s normal to have these moments, and knowing how to handle them can make you a stronger and more resilient speaker.

Step #4 in becoming an expert storyteller is: Achieve Unconscious Competence. Flow, it’s called. It takes 10,000 hours. Ask any expert and they’ll give you the good news: keep turning up. It’s good news because it takes no special skill to show up. If you asked Oprah Winfrey or Ronald Reagan how they got so good they’d share their journey to success, including failures. “In 1964 I was a little girl, sitting on the linoleum floor of my mother’s house in Milwakee, watching Ann Bancroft present the Oscar for Best Actor at the 36th academy Awards.” Watch as Oprah effortlessly quiets the room then shares a story with an arc spanning over 50 years. https://lnkd.in/emCipVXd “The future doesn’t belong to the fainthearted; it belongs to the brave” were the words many would remember in the wake of the challenger disaster. Watch as Reagan, delivering Peggy Noonan’s best work for him, has a fireside chat with a shocked nation. Both are fully themselves, display just the right amount of emotion and, despite the occasion, make it seem effortless. After Oprah Winfrey, watch Ronald Reagan and learn from both. It takes a while to become a storyteller like Oprah or Ronnie and to make the emotional connection apparently effortlessly. Best get started then. #burnthedeck #storytelling #flow
