Today, on Indigenous People's Day, we honor the rich cultures, traditions, and resilience of Indigenous communities. Indigenous peoples are still here with remarkable strength, determination to preserve their identities and ways of life, and a pursuit of self-governance. This day calls us to reflect on the role of Indigenous communities as the first stewards of this land, to recognize their ongoing contributions to our world, and to remind us of the importance of healing by acknowledging both historic and current injustices faced by Indigenous populations. Embracing true inclusivity means supporting Indigenous-led initiatives that protect lands, languages, and cultures. May we commit to honoring and uplifting Indigenous voices—not just today, but every day.

Each year, we honour #NationalIndigenousHistoryMonth and Indigenous Peoples Day. June is an essential time of reflection for those living and working on the Indigenous lands now known as Canada and locally, the First Nations unceded territories now collectively known as British Columbia. Here are some ways the creative industries in B.C. are foregrounding Indigenous stories, taking action, and providing resources to champion a safe and equitable future for their creators and everyone in these industries. https://lnkd.in/e2-8UvGQ

Today, we honor and celebrate the rich cultural heritage, resilience, and invaluable contributions of Native American communities. Let's reflect on the legacy of Indigenous Peoples across the Americas, who have nurtured this land for generations and continue to advocate for self-determination and justice. On Native American Day, we acknowledge the significance of Indigenous knowledge systems, languages, and cultural practices that endure despite centuries of challenges. It's a time to educate ourselves on the struggles Indigenous communities have faced and the ongoing efforts required to address issues like land dispossession, environmental justice, and systemic inequities. May this day serve as a catalyst for meaningful action. Let's engage in dialogue, support Indigenous-led organizations, and advocate for policies that amplify Native voices and sovereignty. Together, we can strive for a future where Indigenous cultures are cherished, and their rights are fully honored. #NativeAmericanDay #IndigenousHeritage #CulturalDiversity #EquityAndInclusion

#HaveYouHerd: Today is Indigenous Peoples’ Day, a time to celebrate and honor the rich cultures, contributions, and resilience of Native American communities. Originally introduced as a counter to Columbus Day, Indigenous Peoples' Day serves to reclaim history and shine a light on the true experiences of America’s first inhabitants. It represents not only a celebration but also a moment to reflect on centuries of resistance, resilience, and continued advocacy for justice and recognition. While the federal government has officially recognized it since 2021, many states and cities still do not observe the holiday. But for the communities that celebrate, it’s a powerful reminder of the strength and impact of Indigenous peoples throughout history and today. Let’s continue to elevate Indigenous voices, support Native-led initiatives, and commit to learning more about the diverse tribal nations that shape our country’s cultural fabric.

Message for the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples As Indigenous peoples, we are the keepers of vibrant cultures, captivating traditions, and rich, colourful histories. As Crees, we have worked hard to maintain a strong connection with our culture and remain protectors and stewards of Eeyou Istchee. This year, the United Nations has declared the theme as ‘Protecting the Rights of Indigenous Peoples in Voluntary Isolation and Initial Contact.” It is evident that colonization has had a deep impact on Indigenous Peoples. Indigenous cultures and languages are vulnerable—not only here in Eeyou Istchee but across the globe. Our Indigenous brothers and sisters around the world face similar challenges in preserving their identities in a rapidly changing world. We can be proud of how we have maintained strong ties to our history, language, and culture. As Indigenous peoples, we share common barriers and difficulties. It is crucial that we stand strong together, supporting one another, alongside allies who advocate loudly for our rights as distinct peoples.
