Join us for our next webinar: August 20th – 12:00 – 2:00pm The Role of Police in Assisting Victims of Mass Violence with: Sue OSullivan O.O.M. B.A, ED Canda LinCT-AA, Chair INVICTM, Chair CACPNWG Maria McDonald, INVICTM Mary Fetchet, Executive Director and President, Voices Centre for Resilience Cst. Danielle Bottineau, Emergency Mgmt/Public Order, Toronto Police Service Karen Collins MA(DEM) ABCP CRM SAS-AP, Manager, Emergency Planning Unit, Vancouver Police Department (CACP NWG) History has taught us that no community, rural or urban, is safe from mass victimization. As gatekeepers of adequate and effective policing, Police Boards & Commissions are instrumental in developing policies that build community trust grounded upon transparency and accountability. That ‘trust’ is placed on Police Boards & Commissions to carry out their legislated duties and functions to plan and prepare with police leadership for when the worst may come to pass. Policing is about protecting and keeping our communities safe, but it is also about providing victims, survivors, family members and the public with the information, support and resources that they need, in a victim-centred manner, if and/or when a mass victimization event occurs. This session will consider the importance of the integration of a human rights and victim-centred lens into policing and how it is relevant to Police Board/Commission members. #CriminalJusticeMinute Did you know the roots of modern policing trace back to England? 🔹 Tithing System (12th Century): Groups of 10 families, or a tithing, agreed to uphold the law and bring offenders to justice. This was one of the earliest forms of community policing. 🔹 Constable-Watch System (1285): The Statute of Winchester established constables who could draft citizens to help protect their communities at night. 🔹 Bow Street Runners (1748): The first professional law enforcement agents emerged, helping recover stolen property and apprehend criminals in London. 🔹 London Metropolitan Police (1829): The first professional police force, known as bobbies after Sir Robert Peel, was created to combat rising crime during the Industrial Revolution. These historical milestones helped shape the criminal justice systems we know today. Which development do you think had the greatest impact?👇 #CRJ101 #MoraineValleyCRJ

CBB Founder and CEO, Craig W. Floyd, recently was invited to speak to the Acacia Lodge of Freemasons in Clifton (VA). During his remarks, he laid out the public safety crisis created by the "defund and defame the police" movement, and offered a commonsense plan to solve the public safety and police shortage crisis: elected leaders need to declare their support for law enforcement; anti-police soft-on-crime prosecutors need to be replaced; repeat violent offenders deserve tougher penalties; police officers need better pay; and parents need to do a better job raising their children. #behindbadge #police #lawenforcement #publicsafetycrisissolutions

A recent Policing Insight article highlighted significant differences in the response to domestic violence disclosure applications in England and Wales; but Allan Dorans MP, the Scottish National Party (SNP)’s spokesperson on policing at Westminster and a former Detective Inspector with the Metropolitan Police, believes a similar disclosure scheme in Scotland has been much more successful, as have wider efforts to reduce violent crime north of the border. ❝I appreciate that there can be problems with comparing crime rates, but where policing and background cultures are so alike across the UK, there are at the very least, questions to be asked about the effects of political actions in the preceding years.❞ ❝This [pivot to prevention approaches] means a national campaign by police officers, teachers, health professionals, politicians, and many others, with a heavy emphasis on schools and with local/social media saturation of messaging based on enlightened values and on countering misogyny.❞ ❝Crime in Scotland has plummeted to far lower levels than only 20 years ago, and to levels significantly lower than in England and Wales.❞ https://lnkd.in/eakbSfqk #lawenforcement #policing #police #crime #domesticviolence #violenceprevention

Another British Police Force goes into special measures - this time Nottinghamshire. The Inspectorate of Constabulary has ordered the force "...to immediately review all crimes, which appear to have inadequate supervision, to identify suspects and assess the level of risk they pose to the public." My team can really help with the identification of offenders - especially if they have been captured on CCTV or other recording devices. Few forces have systems in place to maximise the opportunities presented by images. We can help you. If you are a Notts officer, who wants to improve matters OR if you are in law enforcement anywhere in the world, I can assist you to identify more criminals and make communities safer. This will improve trust and confidence in policing. https://lnkd.in/etxS-eqk
