What is science and who is a scientist in the 21st century? "In the 21st Century, as humanity and the Earth face crises of survival and sustainability, we must fundamentally rethink the values that science and technology aspire to, their social roles and methods, and the norms of scientists", argues Prof Tateo Arimoto, Visiting Professor of National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies 政策研究大学院大学 (GRIPS), in this commentary piece. Making sense of science today requires not only a grasp of fundamental principles but also the ability to critically navigate uncertainty and complexity. Science needs to adapt approaches to engage and interact with multiple sources and forms of knowledge and insights. This must be complimented by larger, more accurate and timely data, collected using verifiable and open methods. Inclusivity, understanding, and respect are essential for moving forward. Why does evolution need millions of years? Because (we are told) it is happening so slowly that no one can see it happening. Two of the pillars of science are logic and observation. If we cannot see evolution happening it is logical to conclude that it doesn’t happen, and it never did.

The devil is always in the details. Read the data, for yourself, from the famous Hockey Stick graph, Ice Sksting on the Thames River or Ancel Keys’ famous seven countries study which subverted our understanding of heart disease and diabetes and you will learn how easy it is to manipulate minds with flawed statistics, case counts and omission of data. If you rely on the media or Fact Checkers you are deferring responsibility for thinking. Take back ownership of your own mind and sense making and step outside of the illusions created to limit your potential. Fo your own research and ask second order questions and take a systems thinking perspective. And always follow the legislation and money it always reveals much of the intent. But know this the true reasons for all this manipulation goes far deeper.
Pretending the science is settled is NOT the same as settled science. Settled science requires peer review. Censorship disqualifies the scientific process. #ComeAtMe 🔥
