Don't let sales roles intimidate you! You do not need to be "pushy" to be successful once you realize that every potential customer falls into one of three categories: 1. They don't need your product or service (no sale to be made). 2. They need your product or service but are unwilling to change to get it (no sale for now). 3. They need your product or service and are willing to change to get it (a sale is made). Your role is simply to master the art of asking the right questions to determine which category the potential customer falls into. It's about understanding their needs and finding the best solution for them. Embrace the process of learning, questioning, and adapting. Sales is not about pushing a product; it's about creating value by addressing the unique needs of each customer. About me and Sales: Thank you for your consideration but I don’t do sales, I can’t afford to do sales, I’m not good at sales, I don’t meet sales quotas. Therefore, I do not do sales jobs. Any job that comes to me and tries to hide the fact they are a sales job is not really helping anyone. It’s a waste of everyone’s time and efforts. On top of this it should be noted I’m a very honest person and because of this I want to work for honest companies that have good values and good hearted CEOs. NOT companies that lie, manipulate, cheat their clients with fancy wording, treat their staff members like pawns on a game board. Moral of the story; stop coming to me with sales jobs.

People say discouraging things about sales. You'll hear things like: Sales is hard. Sales jobs have no future. Sales is saturated learn something else. You are only valued if you close big deals. The rejection is too much for you to handle. You have to be a natural extrovert to succeed. Sales skills aren't transferrable to other careers. Sales jobs are for people who can't do anything else. Most are BS, don't take advice from people who have not done sales before, And don't let anyone give you advice that won't work for you. Your destiny is in your hands, So take charge of it.

💲💲💲 Sales People - I need your opinion... Sales is a funny industry. The core skills developed in a good sales role, I believe, are fairly universal. - The ability to present a buying opportunity - The ability to track market changes - The ability to manage relationships - The ability to handle objections and close Yet, time and time again I see hiring managers reject candidates because they don't have relevant industry experience. I'll accept there are instances where good industry knowledge is key, but for the majority of junior to mid-level roles, industry knowledge can be taught and developed quickly whereas it takes much longer to teach someone to be great at selling. So here's my question to all the salespeople: Would you feel confident selling in an industry you have no prior experience in?

I wrote the below to myself, after having reposted our open Sales Executive position, last night! ;-) Looking for a sales executive who's a freight forwarding beast? Great thing you stumbled upon my post today. And yes, I can practically feel the anxiety, but don't be. Before you start the search, ask these questions: 1) Who's the best sales executive we've had so far? What makes them stand out from the rest? What qualities and talents do they have that we should look for in our next hire? 2) What is our ideal customer profile (ICP)? Don't just look for someone with sales experience in freight forwarding; look for someone who understands the unique challenges and requirements of our target customers. 3) What's our freight forwarding's sales process? How do we identify prospects, how do we acquire leads, how do we nurture those leads, and what tactics have worked best for us so far? Once you have the answers, you can start to create a job description that reflects what you're looking for. Remember, you're not just looking for a "salesperson." You're looking for someone who can represent your company effectively, and help you grow your business. Ask for references, use LinkedIn, and don't settle until you find the right person. This is a challenge, but a rewarding one.

𝐃𝐨 𝐈 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐫? The terms "hunter" and "farmer" are used to describe two distinct sales roles and mindsets within a sales team. They reflect different approaches to generating revenue and managing customer relationships. It's not uncommon for a small business to look for one person to fill both roles. However, this typically doesn't work and the salesperson will gravitate to the role they feel most comfortable. So how do you know which to hire? If your customer base is primarily large, strategic OEMs a Farmer is likely to yield better results. If you're looking to expand your customer base in terms of volume a Hunter is more appropriate. The ultimate is both. A Farmer to grow your existing large accounts and a Hunter to feed the pipeline by going out and finding new ones.
