Starting 2026, many of them will embark on their journey from the new Terminal 3 which is currently being built in the south of the airport. In 2023, there were some changes in the composition and ranking of the top 5 busiest airports in Europe. Amsterdam is nr 4 again :-) London-Heathrow regained its position as the busiest airport in Europe, having been overtaken by İGA İstanbul Airport the previous year. @Paris-CDG(Groupe ADP Airport Services ADP) held onto its position as the third busiest airport, but remained 11.5% below its pre-pandemic traffic levels in 2019. Amsterdam-(Royal Schiphol Group) followed in fourth place, while Madrid (Aena) came in fifth place. source: ACI EUROPE

Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) ranks #1 with 61 million seats and was the busiest global airport in 2022 and 2019. Japan’s $20B Kansai Airport in Osaka sinking at an alarming rate When Japan’s Kansai International Airport (KIX) opened in 1994, it was considered an engineering marvel. It is one of the world’s floating airports and cost roughly $20 billion to construct. 30 years on, it remains an important hub in Japan. In 2022, Statista named KIX the third busiest airport in the country, after Narita International Airport (NRT) and Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND).
