A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of presenting at a conference and chose to talk about what I call the Unsettled Law Doctrine. Sharing the slides here. In short, it's about how people often treat what's legal as what's ethical, so if in-house counsel says something is not illegal, it's often presumed to be okay to do. In effect, lawyers often become de facto ethical arbiters. I think this is misguided. Last week I presented on #AI, Ethics, and the Practice of Law at the Nebraska State Bar Association's Labor Relations and Employment Seminar.
